The American media personality and socialite, Kylie Jenner has made a name for herself in the business world with her well-established beauty line, Kylie Cosmetics. The 26-year-old has a net worth of around USD 700 million, with a major chunk of her income coming from her business, as per Celebrity Net Worth.
Now, it seems that Kylie is in the mood to increase her wealth by manifolds with her latest venture. For the unversed, her new clothing brand, Khy, is her second endeavour in the fashion industry. She had previously launched Kylie Swimwear, which did not work well owing to its poor quality and sky-high prices.
Kylie Jenner’s new clothing line, Khy, launched its first collection on November 1, 2023, and it was an instant hit! In the first hour of its release, the line generated over USD 1 million in sales, which is approximately INR 8 crores, and all the items including the faux leather trench, minidress, and Moto gloves were sold out.
The vegan leather garments were created in collaboration with Namilia, a Berlin-based designer known for her leatherwear, and the first collection featured a total of 12 pieces. The collection included affordable faux leather pieces such as the iconic black trench coat which was priced at USD 198, a black minidress was sold at USD 98, and the bomber jacket was sold at USD 118.
On October 25, 2023, Kylie Jenner gave a sneak peek of her new line, which went live a few days later. On the same day as the launch, she was recognized with the Brand Innovator of the Year award at the WSJ magazine's 2023 Innovator Awards ceremony. The same award was given to Kylie’s half-sister, Kim Kardashian for her clothing and shapewear company, Skims. Despite Khy’s strong start, the brand has a long way to go to catch up with Kim’s clothing line, which was valued at USD 4 billion this summer, around Rs. 332 crores.
The 26-year-old millionaire talked about her new brainchild, Khy, to Vogue. She revealed that a second collection, which is expected to be completely distinct from the first, is scheduled to be released later this month. Talking about the same, she said:
“From the original concept to designing, or co-designing if we’re working with other designers, from picking fabrics, and colours, I’ve been in every fit meeting. I am the creative director of the brand and marketing. There’s not an Instagram post or video that hasn’t been personally edited by me, there hasn’t been an Instagram post that I haven’t posted myself. I’ve put my love into it, and I can’t wait for people to experience the clothes. It’s very personal.”
