Hwang Jung Eum is one of the most well-known faces in the South Korean entertainment industry. The Hallyu star has been a part of several commercially and critically acclaimed dramas like She Was Pretty, Kill Me Heal Me, The Escape Of Seven, Secret Love, Listen To My Heart and more. Besides her glorious actorial career Hwang Jung Eum has an equally talked about personal front. The actress tied the knot with former golfer and now businessman, Lee Young Don in 2016 and was soon after blessed with a baby boy. The couple is proud parent of two sons, but now their love life has hit a rough patch for the second time in a row.
For the unversed, Hwang Jung Eum and Lee Young Don initially decided to split in September 2020 but later reconciled in 2021 through meditation. However, it seems like their feud has escalated, and the couple can’t any longer stay together.

On February 22, 2024, Hwang Jung Eum’s agency, Y1 Entertainment, issued a public notice stating that their client can no longer stay together with her husband, which is why she has decided to proceed with the divorce proceedings. They also added that the reason for the separation cannot be revealed as it is a personal matter, and they would like people to respect their privacy. The statement can be read as:
“This is actress Hwang Jung Eum’s agency Y1 Entertainment. After much deliberation, Hwang Jung Eum decided that it is no longer possible to maintain her marriage and is in the process of filing for divorce. Please understand that details such as the reason for divorce cannot be disclosed as it is a private matter. In addition, we earnestly ask you to refrain from creating speculative rumors and provocative reports that will damage the reputation of the actress and her children.”
Amid the divorce row, Hwang Jung Eum shares a picture of her husband with their second born and captions it as ‘My husband Lee Young-don born in 82 Excited to get chocolate’. This seemed very weird because Hwang filed for a divorce a day later. In the comment section, Hwang also revealed that her husband has been very busy since their marriage, clearly indicating his involvement in an extra-marital affair.

Hwang Jung Eum is currently basking in the glory of her last 2023 successful release, The Escape Of The Seven. The series garnered much appreciation for its unique plotline and is also renewed for a second season. Hwang is cast in the second season as well, and it is currently preparing for it.
