Dharmendra and Hema Malini's daughter, Esha Deol's separation announcement came as a shock for many. The actress gave out major family goals as she would celebrate every occasion with Bharat and her in-laws. The ex-couple got married in 2012 and welcomed two daughters — Radhya and Miraya. According to murmurs, Esha and Bharat's marriage started to break for quite some time, and they were waiting for the right time to announce it to the world. However, not many know that it is not the first time Esha and Bharat parted ways.
Earlier, in an old interview, Esha Deol revealed that she first started dating Bharat in 9th or 10th grade. However, they parted ways soon, and the reason was hilarious. While Bharat revealed, their breakup was due to a misunderstanding, Esha shared the actual reason. She stated that Bharat took her for a drive and he tried holding her, which left her furious. Esha was quoted as saying:
"Bharat took me for a drive and he tried to hold my hand and I was like ‘How dare you hold my hand?’ and I flipped out, and I lost it and I'm like… After that day, I didn't take his calls or speak to him or anything. Then many years later, once we got back, finally at the same signal he asked ‘Baby, can I hold your hand now?’ I’m like, 'Yeah. you can.'"

Recently, a source close to the family revealed to BollywoodLife that Dharmendra wants his daughter, Esha, to rethink her decision to divorce. An insider claimed that like any other father, Dharmendra is not at peace with the recent happenings in his daughter's life. The report further claimed that Dharmendra is not against Esha's divorce, and he wants her to be happy. The source said:
"No parents can be happy seeing their children’s family being broken. Even Dharmendra ji is a father and one can understand his pain. It’s not that he is against his daughter’s decision to get separated but what’s her to rethink over it."
The report further revealed that Dharmendra also worries about the future of his grandchildren after their parents' divorce. The insider revealed that Esha's daughters are close to maternal and paternal families and he is worried about them. The source further stated:
"Esha and Bharat both respect Dharmendra immensely. He is like a son to the Deol family, while Esha is the apple of the eye of father Dharmendra and he wants her to be happy always. As her family is getting hooked, he is indeed sad, and that’s the reason he wants them to reconsider getting separated. Esha and Bharat have two daughters Radhya and Miraya. They are very close to their grandparents paternal and maternal. Separation affects the kids badly and hence Dharamji feels if the marriage can be saved they should."
Talking about Esha's mother, Hema Malini, she is not interfering in Esha's life. According to a report by Zoom, Hema Malini is in favour of Esha Deol's separation from Bharat Takhtani. The insider revealed that the couple have been facing differences for quite some time, and the divorce was brewing for a while. In fact, they were planning to part ways for quite some time. However, they were just waiting for the right moment to announce it. The source stated that Hema would not meddle with her daughter's life. The insider added:
"She is certainly not commenting on her daughter’s decision to divorce her husband. It is Esha’s life and Hemaji will not meddle. She never has. She is with her daughter now, as she has always been. But Hemaji is not accountable for her daughter’s actions."
