For a few years now, people have become vocal about climate change and how the smoke created from the crackers adds up to the pollution. Celebrities have been raising voices, asking people not to burst crackers and have a green Diwali. Joining the celebrities, Anil Kapoor’s son, Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, also tweeted about saying no to crackers and got trolled by the netizens for the same.
For the unversed, Anil Kapoor and his wife, Sunita Kapoor are blessed with three kids, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Rhea Kapoor and Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor. On November 9, 2020, Harsh Varrdhan had turned a year older and his father had penned a note for him. Sharing two pictures of his son, Anil Kapoor had written:
"Happy Birthday @harshvarrdhankapoor!! You’re my friend, confidant and my go to person for so many things (including shoes of course)! You’ve always forged your own path in this world and it's always a pleasure to watch where your incredible instinct takes you! You are everything you need to be and can become anything you wish to be... So proud of you Harsh! Love you always."
As the nation observed the festival of lights, Diwali on November 4, 2021, Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor tweeted, saying that bursting crackers is against common sense. He also mentioned that the crackers have scared his pets and his family feels uncomfortable. His tweet can be read as:
“People still bursting firecrackers all over the place.. my pets are scared, it’s uncomfortable for everyone at home and really bad for the environment in more ways than one.. I’ve never been a prisoner to cultural presets for these reasons.. common sense has to prevail sometimes.”
Well, while Harsh Varrdhan was talking sense, some Twitter users decided to troll him by sharing his father, Anil Kapoor’s old picture, bursting crackers as he and his sister, Sonam Kapoor looked at it. However, Harsh Varrdhan replied to a few of the tweets smartly. When one Twitter user tweeted, “True! Even we are against it. BTW who’s he?” Harsh Varrdhan replied:
“Was years ago.. but as we progress we learn more and try and better our ways .. at least some of us.”
Another Twitter user shared the same picture with a tweet, “2016 Diwali: Is that you bro on the left of Sonam? Didn’t stop your dad from bursting firecrackers? Or your common sense has prevailed recently only?” Replying to it, Harsh Varrdhan tweeted:
“Recently bro… open to change… are you? Yeah didn’t think so.”
When one Twitter user sarcastically said that his cars must be emitting oxygen, which is environment friendly and she is sorry that the Kapoor family must be uncomfortable in their AC home, Harsh Varrdhan replied:
“My tweet about the crackers isn’t meant to be political.. yeah very sad indeed can’t share an opinion without you guys going into a tizzy .. lol.”
On the professional front, Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor was last seen in the Netflix anthology, Ray.
