Late legendary playback singer, Kishore Kumar's biopic is once again in the headlines. But this time, the fans and admirers of the iconic composer can get a bit excited, as his son, Amit Kumar, has confirmed that he will direct his father's biopic.
Earlier, popular director, Anurag Basu was reportedly working on this project. It was speculated that his great friend and actor, Ranbir Kapoor was roped in to portray the role of Kishore Kumar on the big screen. However, with no update on Anurag Basu's project, it seems like Kishore Kumar's family are forced to take things into their own hands. No wonder it's a win-win situation for the audience, as there are chances that we would have two biopics on Kishore Kumar's life in future.
In an interview with SpotboyE, Amit Kumar was asked about the status of his late father, Kishore Kumar's biopic and enquired about the prospect of him directing the same. To which, the doting son surprisingly revealed that he, his brother, Sumit Kumar, and their entire family have already decided on that and he would be directing his father's biopic. When Amit was asked to reveal the major reason behind this decision, the singer said, "It was always my intention that we do the biopic. After all who knows him (Kishore Kumar) better than his family?"
Well, there's no denying the fact that there's no one in this world who knows more things about Kishore Kumar than his own children and family. But from the perspective of filmmaking, people are calling it a step taken in desperation. The reason behind these growing talks in the industry is that earlier, there were speculations that Piku fame, Shoojit Sircar and Ludo director, Anurag Basu, would be directing Kishore Kumar's biopic. However, for the fans of Indian cinema, it is a wonderful opportunity to see Kishore Kumar's biopic on the big screen, and that too, being directed by his own sons.
Going further in the interview, Amit Kumar, who is a singer and composer by profession, was asked about the film's script and some shooting details to get an idea about the film's release. The co-owner of Kumar Brothers stated that soon they're going to kick-start by taking interviews of his family members. He said, "We're about to start shooting the interviews with our family about my father."
In the end, Kishore Kumar's son, Amit Kumar, also stated that he and his team would surely need at least a year to develop the film's script because obviously the script is the backbone of this biographical drama. Emphasing on the same, he said, "We know that the script will take at least a year to develop. It's a lot of hard work, and a long journey ahead." So far, Amit Kumar hasn't revealed the actor, who will portray his father on the big screen, and no wonder everyone is anxiously waiting for this big announcement.
Late Kishore Kumar's son, Amit Kumar, has won five Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer in his career in Bollywood.
