'Pluribus' has finally reached its season finale, and the audience only has one question: will the series be back with Season 2? Let's take a look at what we know so far.
Pluribus finale is finally here, and fans have more questions than answers after the bombshell of the episode. The episode titled La Chica o El Mundo (The Girl or the World) brought some answers that viewers had been looking for; however, it also raised even more questions, including speculation about a possible season 2.
In the season finale, we see that 'Kusimayu's' village is culturally destroyed when she is joined by the 'Others'. However, amid the horrifying destruction, 'Carol' and 'Manousos' meet to discuss their mistrust and differences, leaving the latter wary of 'Carol' and her ties to the 'Others'. 'Manousos' is also unsure of 'Zosia's' loyalty and asks to speak with her. Meanwhile, fans also get a glimpse of the brewing romance between 'Zosia' and 'Carol', which the former still denies.
While 'Manousos' tries to disrupt the 'Joining' with a radio signal, 'Carol' finds out it is putting 'Zosia's' life in danger and stops them. While 'Carol' and 'Zosia' leave together, rejecting 'Manousos's' world-saving plan, the couple is on their way to a journey of their own. In the chalet, 'Carol' talks about how the feeling of being so happy feels completely foreign to her. While 'Zosia' notes that "it will only get better", things might not be as they seem. The 'Joining', which 'Carol' clarified again and again, can only happen with her stem cells, has been on hold after she did not consent to them being taken from her body. However, there is a very important detail she had forgotten about.
'Carol' apparently froze her eggs 11 years ago, and stem cells can be obtained from them as well. With 'Zosia' linking up the timeline by explaining that 'Kusimayu' just joined, “and I promise you, she's happier than she's ever been". However, there is a ticking clock as well, as 'Zosia' claims that they will be able to make 'Carol' join in "a month, hopefully, maybe two or three." And there's no way around it. Meanwhile, 'Manousos' is learning basic engineering and English, trying to figure out what he can do with the mysterious radio signal when a strange sound begins.
Pluribus comes to a bittersweet end as the sound is of a helicopter dropping a crate in front of 'Carol's' house, which then lands and lets 'Carol' off. The helicopter is being controlled by 'Zosia,' and they give each other a sweet, sad look of goodbye. While 'Carol' turns to 'Manousos' and says, "You win, we save the world.", the latter asks her about the crate, to which 'Carol' responds, "Atom bomb," as Conquistadora by Chantal Claret blasts over the closing credits. However, the finale leaves us with some big questions, not just about how 'Manousos' and 'Carol' will cure the 'Others', but also if 'Carol' is doing this out of selfishness.
Talking about Pluribus Season 2, the short answer remains yes. The show was initially picked up by Apple TV back in 2022 for a two-season run after a bidding war for the series. However, that was a long time ago, and there have been plenty of reversals on second-season pick-ups before. Nonetheless, Pluribus has been a hit for Apple TV, so there's no reason to think the show will be back. But there are no updates or confirmation on the renewal.
