Twisha Sharma's husband's attorney revealed the real reason behind his disappearance for 10 days and his eventual surrender.
Model and actress, Twisha Sharma's untimely death has garnered nationwide attention. Twisha was a 31-year-old Noida-based professional who was found deceased on May 12, 2026, in her marital home in Bhopal's Katara Hills. Her death, which was initially suspected as suicide, has triggered intense reactions and theories. Twisha's family contested the suicide claims and alleged severe dowry harassment, physical and mental torment, and murder. Now, the case has deepened with new angles regarding her husband's disappearance surfacing.
Twisha Sharma's husband, Samarth Singh's lawyer, Mrigendra Singh, explicitly argued that his client was not hiding or on the run. In an interview with NDTV, the defence attorney said that Samarth was exercising his legal right to seek protection under the law. He specifically cited Section 482 of the new Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). According to the legal expert, the particular right can be availed by those who have been wrongfully accused of something they are not related to. Mrigendra mentioned they wanted to request liberty from the court first, but he ultimately advised Samarth to surrender once those options were no longer viable. He stated:
"He was not hiding. There's a provision under section 482 of the new BNSS that gives every person the right to apply for anticipatory bail if he has been unnecessarily made an accused in a case that has no nexus with the person. So he availed that right, but then I advised him to better surrender."
The lawyer representing Samarth Singh said that his client had to opt for that path because he had no other option to avoid immediate arrest. Attorney, Mrigendra Singh shared the reason being that Twisha Sharma's bereaved family hurled severe, non-bailable charges against Samarth, which involve up to 10 years of imprisonment. As per the lawyer, Samarth would have been arrested immediately without a hearing if he had made a public appearance at that time without legal safeguards. Mrigendra was quoted by NDTV as:
"Twisha's family made all the wild allegations against Samarth and his mother (former judge Giribala Singh). They had already registered an offence against him, which was non-bailable. If Samarth and his mother had gone without a bail order, they would have been arrested immediately."
In a recent conversation with Times Now, Twisha Sharma's sister-in-law, Rashi Sharma, said, "Twisha regularly mentioned harassment by [her husband] Samarth Singh." Recalling Twisha's final conversation with her family, Rashi mentioned her sister-in-law was "stressed and upset" because of Samarth's behaviour. As per her, in her final days, Twisha kept on insisting to go back to he own home, resume her career and start afresh; however, none of that happened, and she ultimately passed away from a suspected suicide. Mourning her untimely demise, Rashi stated:
"We want to grieve. We want to cremate her the way it should be done. Twisha was stressed and upset because of the actions of Samarth Singh. In her last conversation with us during a conference call, she said, 'I want to come back home. I want to do my job and leave this shit behind.'"
Twisha Sharma's father, Navnidhi Sharma also made similar allegations during an interview with NDTV. He revealed that Samarth, at times, physically abused Twisha Sharma. Navnidhi stated that early in the marriage, his son-in-law displayed a "criminal mindset" when he became angry and pushed Twisha at the airport on the way to their honeymoon. After that, she had second thoughts about her marriage and shared them with her brother.
