The Albanian-born singer Rita, who is from London, released her debut album in 2012. It included her top U.K. singles named R.I.P., How We Do (Party), and Shine Ya Light. Rita was born on November 26, 1990, back in Pristina, Kosovo. She had moved in to London with her family as a kid. Her family had to flee to London because of the political unrest in the Balkans. This experience had shaped Rita's identity as a kid, and she drew a lot of artistic inspiration from it. Rita's mom was a psychiatrist, and earlier in an interview with the Standard, she revealed how her parents' journey shaped her. Rita, who grew up as a child refugee, shared:
"Growing up as a child refugee shaped everything about who I am. When my parents fled Kosovo to escape the persecution of Albanians, they gave up everything for safety and a new start in the UK. They had to rebuild their lives from scratch — my mum was a psychiatrist back in Kosovo, but when we arrived in the UK, she had to learn English and retrain all over. My dad worked long nights to make sure we had a future. Their courage built the foundation for my whole life, and music became my sanctuary.”
Rita was seen in films that included playing the role of the sister of 'Christian Grey' in Fifty Shades Of Grey. She was also seen on the reality TV shows, The X- Factor and also The Voice. She confessed to having a great relationship with his kids when Rita appeared on the Begin Again with Davina McCall podcast. She married Taika back in 2022, calling her relationship fun and saying that she shared the best time being a stepmother. In her words:
"I'm like the fairy godmother [who] gives them all the sugar and all the ice cream, and then sends them back. And their mother, who I love dearly, is like, they're bouncing off the walls. I think that's the fun part of being a stepmom, like you can do those naughty things. I take them out, and I took them to an Ed Sheeran concert. They met Ed Sheeran, like, I was giving it all to these kids!"
The Heat singer, in an interview with PEOPLE, shared that she loves the se***lity of her husband, Taika and the celebration he has with the same. In the interview, Rita spoke on being inspired by the same and it gave her a reason to celebrate her se***lity. In her words:
"I was really inspired for me and my womanhood to really kind of celebrate my sexuality, my sexiness and get back into my body, you know? And this really just embodied that."
Reportedly, Rita has not released any new album since 2023 and has long been interested in reintroducing herself to her fans. The pop star had shared her feelings about doing so many things to sort of remind the public, especially her new fans. She loves the idea of defining who she is. At The Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Rita revealed of not limiting herself to just being a singer. In her words:
"You don't really need to do that. I see myself as an amateur every day as I'm constantly learning. You should never walk into the room thinking you don't have power, as you do."
