According to a report by TOI, Naomy Van Beem grew up in Amsterdam. She had faced numerous struggles during her childhood and has always openly spoken about them. With her father being absent from her life at the time, Namoy was raised by her mother in a small apartment in a difficult neighbourhood. They constantly faced financial struggles, but according to Naomy, her mother had always worked hard to provide everything that their family needed, even when times were tough. After Naomy became an adult, she realised just how much her mother had sacrificed to keep their family stable. In her words:
“My mother always provided us with everything, even though she really had to make ends meet. But we didn’t actually notice that. Only as you get older do you realise how she had to do her best to keep her head above water.”
Years later, when Naomy turned 22 and became a mom herself, she decided to reconnect with her biological father, who reportedly lives in Miami. Despite once feeling that she did not need a father figure in her life, after she became a parent, her perspective changed, leading her to build a relationship with him. And it seems that her decision was not a bad one, as Naomy has since developed a close bond with her father. According to reports, she regularly travels to where he lives to spend time with him. Naomy has also opened up about now understanding that many of her personality traits actually come from her father after reconnecting with him. She said:
“He lives in Miami and has been in my life for almost thirteen years now. I now have a good relationship with my father and recognise a lot of myself in him. Now I know where these character traits of mine come from. I regularly fly back and forth to Miami.”
Rico Verhoeven and Naomy Van Beem have been together for nearly half a decade, and over the years, their relationship has only continued to grow stronger. Earlier this year, the couple celebrated Valentine's Day together, and for the occasion, the fitness entrepreneur penned a special tribute for the kickboxing champion on social media. Naomy wrote:
“Happy Valentine’s Day, my love. Half a decade by your side, and we’re still as close as ever. You’re not just my Valentine today, you’re my forever. I love you.”
With time, Rico Verhoeven had established himself as one of the greatest kickboxers of all time. Despite this, he will enter the boxing ring for just the second time this Saturday, May 23, 2026. The 36-year-old had his lone professional boxing match in 2014, a second-round knockout of Janos Finfera. For the uninitiated, a longtime GLORY heavyweight champion, Rico Verhoeven retired from kickboxing just this past year, in June 2025. He holds multiple GLORY Kickboxing records, which include a run of 13 consecutive title defences in the promotion.
The Usyk vs. Verhoeven fight will take place at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. The main card is expected to begin at 1 pm ET, with main-event ring walks following at roughly 5:45 pm ET. Fans will be able to stream the match live on DAZN pay-per-view around the world.
