With Michael Jordan reeling in from the win of his NASCAR team, 23XI Racing in the Daytona 500, read on to know about his love life.
Michael Jordan is hailed by many as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. After Jordan began attracting the attention of numerous college basketball programmes, including Duke, South Carolina, and North Carolina, in high school, he went on to play for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Regarding his professional career, Jordan was selected third overall in the 1994 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. He played for the team from 1984 to 1998 and later for the Washington Wizards from 2001 to 2003.
For the unversed, 2002-2003 was Michael Jordan's final season in the NBA. Since his retirement, Jordan has made a name for himself as a businessman. In 2006, Jordan bought a stake in the NBA team, Charlotte Bobcats (now known as the Charlotte Hornets). In addition, Michael Jordan owns the NASCAR team, 23XI Racing, which first competed in the 2021 season. Well, both Jordan and the team are in a mood of celebration since 23XI Racing bagged its first-ever trophy in the Daytona 500 a while back. Driver, Terry Reddick in the No. 45 Toyota was the one who brought home the victory. Now that the attention is on Michael Jordan's professional front, many have begun to wonder about his personal life.
The six-time NBA champion, Michael Jordan, is married to Yvette Prieto at present. Several reports online suggest that Jordan met Yvette, a Cuban-American model, at a nightclub in December 2006. This was almost a year after he finalised his divorce with his first wife, Juanita Vanoy. After the pair started dating, Jordan and Yvette moved in together a few years later, in 2009. It is worth noting that they share an age gap of 15 years, with the New York City-born basketball player being 62 years old and Yvette being 47 as of early 2026.
Two years after moving in together, Michael and Yvette got engaged. The couple finally tied the knot in April 2013. If reports are believed to be true, their wedding ceremony, which was held in Florida, was estimated to cost over USD 10 million. Furthermore, the pair's wedding was attended by several A-list guests such as Usher, Tiger Woods, and Robin Thicke.
What was interesting about Jordan and Yvette's wedding was that they didn't accept any gifts or donations for their future life together. Instead, the couple collected for charity as they had no need for any extra money, with Jordan being a billionaire. The money that they raised on their big day reportedly went to the James R. Jordan Foundation (named after Michael's father), which mainly focuses on education. In addition to this, the newly married couple also donated their wedding flowers to the Jupiter Medical Centre in Florida. One year after Jordan and Yvette tied the knot, they welcomed twin daughters, Ysabel and Victoria, in February 2014.
It's been over 15 years since Michael Jordan and his wife, Yvette Prieto, got together. Irrespective of this, they are still an item, and their relationship seems to be going as strong as ever. The duo usually prefers to keep their personal lives out of the limelight and avoids social media as much as possible. However, fans and paparazzi have occasionally spotted them hanging out together, mostly thanks to their famous friends. Just a few years back, in July 2023, Jordan and Yvette were seen vacationing in Capri, Italy. They were joined by several other famous couples, such as Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson and his wife, Earletha ‘Cookie’ Kelly and Samuel L. Jackson and his wife, LaTanya Richardson Jackson.
If reports are believed to be true, Michael Jordan met his first wife, Juanita Vanoy, after a game in 1985, when he was still playing in the NBA. At the time, Juanita was supposedly working as a loan officer. Later, when she appeared in an interview in 1992, she confessed that it was a mutual friend who had introduced her and Michael to each other. Eventually, after dating for two years, the NBA star proposed to her on New Year's Eve in 1987. They got officially married in a Las Vegas ceremony in 1989. To mention, this was one year after they had welcomed their first son, Jeffrey Jordan. During their years together, Michael and Juanita welcomed two more children, their second son, Marcus, in 1990, and their daughter, Jasmine, in 1992.
After more than 10 years of marital bliss, Michael Jordan and his first wife, Juanita Vanoy, decided to split. Reports online suggest that Juanita was the one to file for divorce in 2002. While she cited irreconcilable differences as the cause, she withdrew the application for divorce just a month later, giving her marriage a second try. However, four years later, in 2006, Michael and Juanita mutually decided to split.
Some reports claim that Juanita received a whopping USD 168 million as part of her divorce settlement. As for the cause of their second and final split, some believe that it might have something to do with Michael's former gambling addiction and alleged affairs. The official statement from Michael and Juanita's divorce announcement in 2006 read:
"Michael and Juanita Jordan mutually and amicably decided to end their 17-year marriage. A judgment for dissolution of their marriage was entered today. There will be no further statements."
