He surprisingly made his way into WNBA legend Elena Delle Donne’s Hall of Fame speech. For those unaware, the two-time WNBA MVP was officially inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on August 15, 2026.
As she got onto the podium, Delle said that she could only hope that her speech would go well since Larry David was in the building. When the camera panned onto the Seinfeld creator, it was clear to see that he approved. Amid this, fans have grown curious to learn about Larry’s personal life, especially his wife, Ashley Underwood.
Just like Larry David, his wife, Ashley Underwood, has also worked in Hollywood for a long time, reportedly since at least 2018. This is when she joined the team behind Sacha Baron Cohen’s popular show, Who Is America? Over time, she also became friends with Cohen's wife and actress Isla Fisher. The actress had even starred in an episode of Ashley’s husband, Larry’s show, Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher played a significant role in Ashley and Larry’s relationship. The duo was introduced to each other at Cohen’s birthday party in 2017. Recalling the time in an interview, Larry David said that he left Ashley quite surprised when he decided to leave the party before dessert. But he defended himself by saying he did not want to risk blowing the good impression. He added:
"Much to her surprise, I left before dessert. I was doing so well, banter-wise, I didn't want to risk staying too long and blowing the good impression."
As their relationship developed, Ashley began living with Larry and his adult daughter, Cazzie, in 2019. However, living together was not always an easy task. Larry revealed that there would be constant friction between them, especially when it came to doing the dishes. Detailing the same, he shared:
"There's not a moment in the day when there isn't friction between at least two of us. Then when that gets resolved, two others are at each other's throats, and it's invariably about dishes. 'You didn't do the dishes!' Or 'You didn't help with the dishes!' I think that is being screamed all over the world now."
The couple also live in their home with their pets. This includes Ashley's cat, Elwood, whom she had before he moved in with the comedian, and an Australian shepherd called Bernie that she and Larry adopted later.
After about a year of living together, Larry David and Ashley Underwood tied the knot in Southern California in October 2020. It is worth noting that this is Larry’s second marriage. He was previously married to environmentalist Laurie David. The duo got divorced back in 2007.
Since Ashley came into Larry David’s life, she has become his biggest supporter. She has been by his side for a majority of his big career moments. This includes the season 12 premiere of Curb Your Enthusiasm in January 2024, where the couple could be seen with the biggest smiles on their faces as they walked the red carpet together.
Additionally, Ashley has also said that she is a huge fan of her husband's humor. According to her, it has often helped them come and go from events as they please. In her words:
"We'll be at a dinner party, and Larry will take his last bit of food and just stand up for us to go. I just shrug. He gets the laugh, and I get to ride his coattails."
