At present, Bret is grabbing all the headlines after he made the decision to pull out of the Freedom250 Great American State Fair. The singer announced the news on Instagram on May 29, 2026, saying, "What was presented to us as a celebration of our country has evolved into something much more decisive than what I agreed to be a part of.” Amid the buzz, the limelight has also shifted to the singer's longtime girlfriend, Kristi Gibson.
According to a report by People, Kristi Gibson was born to George and Lorraine Gibson in British Columbia, Canada. Reportedly, her father was a hockey player and used to play for the Cranbrook Royals. Kristi is proud of her Canadian roots and can often be seen visiting her home while posting about her heritage on social media.
Kristi Gibson has worked as a model and actress. One of her most notable appearances on screen was in the 1998 movie, A Letter From Death Row. Interestingly, in the psychological thriller, Kristi played a character with the same name as hers. The movie was written and directed by Kristi's boyfriend, Bret Michaels, who also starred in the film.
It is worth mentioning that this was not the only time that Kristi and Bret have worked together on-screen. A few years later, in 2003, Kristi Gibson appeared in Bret's music video for his song, Raine, which the musician had dedicated to his first child. In 2010, the pair featured in the reality TV show, Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It, where they showcased their life focused on their kids.
While Kristi Gibson and Bret Michaels' relationship has lasted for several decades, their love story started in the early ‘90s. Reportedly, the couple had their first date in 1993. And apparently, it was no ordinary date as the Every Rose has its Thorn artist and the model went on a motorcycle ride to get to know each other.
Over the years, Kristi and Bret Michaels have welcomed two children, daughters, Raine Elizabeth, born on May 20, 2000, and Jorja Bleu, born on May 5, 2005. While Raine is a model and sports enthusiast, her sister, Jorja, had been aspiring to become a hairstylist after graduating from high school. Bret Michaels is known for being a proud girl dad. This was evidenced in 2023 when the singer took to his Instagram to post a sweet tribute for Kristi and their daughters. Posting several photos of them, he wrote:
"As the parents of two incredible daughters, Kristi & I cannot be more grateful for all of the strong, brave, resilient & incredible #women that have helped shape not just our past, but our present & our future and opened up such incredible opportunities for them, giving them such courage & strength to rock on.”
In the same year, during an interview with People, Bret claimed that he “loves being a parent” to Raine and Jorga. According to the singer, it allows him to be a child too sometimes, and that's what's truly important.
Bret Michaels had a brain haemorrhage in April 2010. At the time, it was none other than his girlfriend, Kristi Gibson, who supported him. Opening about how she won't leave Michael's side, Kristi remarked in an interview with People:
“I said, ‘I’m not leaving his side.' I held his hand and told him, ‘It’s going to be okay.’ Just from his eyes, you could tell how much pain he was in. I wanted to take away that pain so bad…He was just worried about me and the girls — that’s all he cared about. I was like don’t worry about us, we’ll be fine.”
It was in 2010 when Bret Michaels proposed to Kristi Gibson on the finale of his TV show, Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It. This was after over a decade of the two dating. While on his knee, he told Kristi:
“I love you, and you’ve been unbelievably a big part of my life, and we have two beautiful girls together. I know we love and respect each other, and I hope that we can find that inner love that we have forever. And I want you to be my wife.”
Apparently, at the time, Kristi and Bret planned to have a low-key beach wedding and a beach party. However, it all came to an end when they decided to end their engagement in 2012. As of 2026, the pair remain partners after getting back together.
