For the unversed, on the premiere episode of Lock Upp 2, Akanksha announced that she and Anupamaa fame, Gaurav, are getting divorced. The announcement was both shocking and heartbreaking for the pair’s fans. Amid this, an old video showing Akanksha and Gaurav in which the former agreed to spend the rest of her life with the latter, surfaced online.
Recently, India Forums shared an old video showing Akanksha Chamola and Gaurav Khanna. In the now-viral clip, the couple looked the happiest. In the video, Gaurav was seen asking Akanksha, "Would you like to spend the rest of your life with me, going out with me, eating sweets with me and being my wife and raising my future family, whenever it will happen? Are you ready to do that?" In response, Akanksha Chamola smiled, seemingly agreeing to be Gaurav’s wife and spending the rest of her life with him.
During the premiere episode of Lock Upp 2, Akanksha dropped a bombshell. Akanksha revealed that she and Gaurav are heading for divorce. The couple took the decision to part ways after nearly 10 years of marriage. For the uninitiated, Akanksha and Gaurav tied the knot in November 2016. Akanksha mentioned that it was a mutual decision to part ways. She was quoted as saying:
"Gaurav Khanna and I are getting divorced. We have been living separately for the past year. People don’t know about this yet. This is a decision we have both taken. We have been talking about it for the past year. There is nothing bad between Gaurav and me. We still talk to each other, but we feel that we are not right for each other as partners. That is because we both want different things in life."
Ever since, Akanksha announced her divorce from Gaurav, people have been thinking what went wrong in their marriage. During the same episode of Lock Upp 2, Akanksha revealed that their trouble in marital paradise had been ongoing since Gaurav participated in Bigg Boss 19. Akanksha added that she and Gaurav do not have that couple-like feeling. In her words:
"All this has been going on since Bigg Boss 19. Gaurav’s parents and my parents told us to stay separately for some time. Sometimes, when you stay away, you realise each other’s importance. Everyone thought that since we were talking, appearing together on social media and supporting each other at events, we would get back together. But we are not getting that couple-like feeling anymore."
The pair’s different points of view on family planning are reportedly one of the reasons behind their split. Earlier, on Bigg Boss 19, Gaurav shared that while he would like to have kids, his wife, Akanksha, doesn’t want to. In another interview, Gaurav mentioned that although Akanksha doesn’t want to have kids, he respects her decision. Recently, on the show, Lock Upp 2, Akanksha added:
"Nahi hein mere mein motherly instinct, woh maine bohot pehle bol diya tha. Jab mujhe realise ho gaya ki main bani hi nahi hu iss chees ke liye, mein tabhi hi bol diya tha ki main nahi karne waali hoon. So we had a discussion where I told him, if you want to leave me, then leave me, fair enough. Log shaadi isliye karte hain. Let's be honest 99 per cent want to get married because you want to have kids and family aagey badhana hain, warna aap kyu shaadi karoge."
