Daveigh Chase's death has left everyone stunned. Amid those reports, it has been reported that the former actress was homeless, and now, her manager has reflected on the same.
Daveigh Chase's sudden passing has left everyone heartbroken. According to reports, the Lilo & Stitch star passed away from meningitis and a blood infection. She was allegedly hospitalised earlier in June 2026 for malnutrition. Amid the news of her passing, the actress's former manager has alleged that Chase was homeless for years before her death.
Daveigh Chase was a well-known name in the film industry. However, over the past few years, she had grown distant from the world of glitz and glam. Her death has once again brought her into the limelight with reports asserting that after being admitted for meningitis and a blood infection, the actress died when it turned into sepsis and led to organ shutdown. The news of her passing had already left the world in shock, but now it is being reported that the actress was homeless for the last decade of her life. According to The New York Post's report, Daveigh Chase's former manager, John Ryan, has made the shocking claim.
The manager has claimed that the actress was homeless in the last decade of her life. However, he is not the only one to make such claims; the late actress's father, John Schwallier, has also stated that his daughter was homeless and reportedly lived with her boyfriend in Los Angeles. Ryan noted that he and Chase's stepsister, Gaia Brown, searched for her for months and even hired a PI to look for her. Nonetheless, it was in late 2025 that they came across a video of Daveigh Chase lying on what appeared to be a tent in the Skid Row neighbourhood of Los Angeles.
According to reports, Skid Row is known as an encampment for the homeless. The former actress's friends and family were deeply concerned about her safety and health as she barely looked conscious and was severely malnourished. John Ryan revealed that he was able to get on a call with her and even planned to get Daveigh Chase into a rehab facility in Costa Rica. However, this plan proved fruitless because they could not find her when they came to Skid Row. In a conversation with The California Post, Ryan said:
"We were so close to finding her. Daveigh was the sweetest and brightest light in Hollywood. I can't believe this is real. Her legacy and work will live on forever."
Daveigh Chase's former manager, John Ryan, even called out Roy Hernandez for the GoFundMe page he allegedly started for Chase. In the fundraiser description, Chase's alleged boyfriend stated that she had a "difficult childhood" and a falling-out with her family, and she seemingly struggled in downtown LA, and he wished to give her a "sense of home and peace in her final days." For the unversed, the GoFundMe has raised more than USD 3,700 out of the USD 5,500 target. Ryan took a dig at Hernandez and claimed that he was just trying to use Chase's name to make a quick buck. He revealed that the late actress had a trust account with SAG and did not have financial problems.
Due to her addiction to heroin and fentanyl, she supposedly could not get the money. The former manager stated that Daveigh Chase's friends and family were unaware of Hernandez and his alleged relationship with her. He stated:
"A man claiming to be her 'boyfriend' that none of us friends or her family has heard of has set up a GoFundMe on her and her family's behalf that he set her up as the organiser. I can confirm Daveigh has a trust account set up at SAG to cover all costs."
