In her personal life, she is married to the MD and Founder of Roy Kapur Films, Siddharth Roy Kapur.
Apart from being a doting and supportive wifey to her hubby, Siddharth Roy Kapur, she is even more a loving and pampered daughter-in-law in the Roy-Kapur household. Proof of the same was found in one of her earlier social media interactions. During a QnA session on her IG handle, she responded to a query about her favourite dish by dropping a picture of a savoury bread pudding made by her saasu-maa, Salome Roy Kapur.

Vidya considers her decision to marry her soulmate, Siddharth Roy Kapur as one of the best ones she has taken ever in her life. Moreover, she admits Siddharth bringing an altogether different change in her life, which she has accepted with open arms. Speaking about the same in an interview with Filmfare, Vidya once mentioned:
“He is the best thing that has happened to me. Nazar na lage. I am blessed with the kind of family I am born into, my parents, my sister and brother-in- law, my niece and nephew and of course my second set of parents, my in-laws. They light up my life. If they make me 'me', Siddharth let's me be me."
For the many unversed, Vidya Balan happens to be the sister-in-law of handsome hunk, Aditya Roy Kapur as well as talented actor, Kunaal Roy Kapur. Time and again she has been spotted showering her love and support to both of them, and a tad bit more to Aditya. Proof of the same was found in one of her social media interactions with her fans, where they asked her to drop her favourite picture with her devar, Aditya Roy Kapur. In response, Vidya obliged them by dropping a snap of herself along with her husband, Siddharth and brother-in-law, Aditya from the promotion of the latter’s debut film, Aashiqui 2.

Despite being such a loved persona, there have been a few times when she has had to bear the brunt of unnecessary probes and criticism from the audience. For instance, she has often been questioned as to why she has never done any film under her successful husband, Siddharth Roy Kapur’s production banner. To this, Vidya gave a very swift answer and revealed how she does not want her hard work and talent to get tainted by the whiffs of being taken for granted. In her words:
“I also think that I don't want anyone to reduce my achievements to saying this happened for you because of your husband because one has worked very hard to get here and as much as I love him, I don't want that to happen for either of us. It's very reductive in a lot of ways. People say na aapka toh production house hai na and I say mere pati ka hai, mera nahi hai, fark hai. They don't understand it."
