As Urmila Matondkar's ex-husband, Mohsin Akhtar, got married, his past relationship with the legendary actress is back in the headlines, and so is the huge age gap.
Urmila Matondkar's ex-husband, Mohsin Akhtar, is all set to restart his life with Nidhaa Bhatt. He shared beautiful photos from his Nikah ceremony and expressed gratitude for a new beginning. While fans are congratulating Mohsin, all eyes are back on his past with the famous actress, Urmila. The two were once madly in love and supported each other, but their relationship ended when they got a divorce after eight years of marriage.
Urmila Matondkar and her ex-husband, Mohsin Akhtar, had a huge age gap. But as it is said that love sees age just as a number, and the heart does not ask about it before falling in love. The ex-couple who met during Manish Malhotra's niece's wedding found an instant connection and got married in 2016. Urmila, who was born on February 4, 1974, was 10 years older than her ex-husband, Mohsin Akhtar.
Urmila Matondkar and Mohsin Akhtar were married for over eight years, but they never thought of welcoming a child. While the actress' fans were eager to watch her grow up with kids, she never looked forward to it. In fact, during an old interview, the actress-turned-politician revealed that she is not looking at it as a 'must' on her checklist. She added that if it happens, it happens, and she was not looking forward to it, nor was she looking forward ot it.

Urmila added that for her it is not a necessity to be a mother. She added that it should happen for the right reason, and she loves children, and there are many out there who need love and care, and there is a possibility of adoption. She was quoted as saying:
"If it happens, it happens. I am not looking forward to it, nor am I ‘not looking forward’ to it. It’s not necessary for every woman to be a mother. Motherhood should happen for the right reason. I love children. There are many children out there who need love and care and it is not necessary that they have to be born out of you to be loved."
In 2023, Mohsin posted a picture on his Instagram holding a little child who was sitting on his lap. However, fans soon flooded his comments section, thinking that it was the ex-couple's child. They showered them with congratulatory messages and happy notes. Later, Mohsin had to take to his social media to clarify the confusion. He added that the child featured in his photo wasn't his and Urmila's, but his niece, Aira.
After Urmila and Mohsin got married, there were rumours that the actress had converted to Islam. However, in an interaction with Boom, Mohsin denied all such claims that his wife converted to Islam. He clarified that she had not changed her name or added his surname to her name. Mohsin further stated that if someone came to our hour, they would find a temple too. He was quoted as saying:
"It is a common trend to play up such claims before elections and we are not perturbed by any of it. My wife did not convert to Islam. Period. These days celebs’ social media profiles tell a lot about them. One can go and see her profile on Instagram, she has not changed her name or added my surname, unlike many other stars. If you come to our house, we have a temple too. Even my helping staff can vouch for a fact that she has not converted to Islam."
On the personal front, Mohsin Khan recently got married to Nidha Bhatt.
