Soon, speculation about him dating the rapper surfaced across social media. Talking about Tobey, he married jewellery designer Jennifer Meyer in 2007, but the duo parted ways in 2016. Despite their divorce, Tobey and Jennifer share a very warm bond.
Tobey and Jennifer are parents to a daughter named Ruby Sweetheart and a son named Otis. The estranged couple have been co-parenting their kids, and despite their divorce, there is no bitterness between the two. Unlike the other A-list couple in the glamour world, Tobey and Jennifer remained thick as friends.
When Jennifer and Tobey were separating, she took couples therapy and Tobey was extremely supportive of her. During her appearance at The Inside Edit podcast, Jennifer revealed that Tobey was her best friend despite their separation and he would do anything for her. In her words:
“I now have an ex-husband who is my best friend and would do anything for me, and I would do anything for him — anything in the world. He is the best dad, the best ex-husband, the best friend and the most generous.”
It was Jennifer who officially filed for divorce from Tobey in 2016, and the divorce was finalised in 2020. She cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason behind the split and also revealed that there was no drama or bad blood involved in their split. According to Jennifer, the two realised they were not meant for each other and decided to take different paths in life.
However, a source close to the couple said that Tobey and Jennifer were complete opposites. While he prefers keeping his life private, she, on the other hand, loves socialising and has many friends. Their strikingly different personalities became a reason for their split. However, the two are amazing parents and have been co-parenting their kids since their divorce.
In 2024, Jennifer got engaged to Geoffrey Ogunlesi, and he shares a warm bond with Jennifer’s ex-husband, Tobey. In fact, during the Los Angeles wildfires, Jennifer, Ogunlesi and her two kids had to evacuate their home. So they moved to Tobey’s home, and everyone slept under one roof.
On the same podcast, Jennifer revealed that Tobey and her fiancé, Geoffrey, got along really well and they were like a big happy family. Speaking about their living arrangement during the fire, she said:
“The cutest part is Tobey and my fiancé, Geoff, love each other so much. When the fires happened, I thought we were going to be fine in Brentwood, so everyone was at my house. Tobey, at the time, was in West Hollywood because he’s redoing his house. I was, like, ‘I think we’re going to have to evacuate.’ And he’s, like, ‘You better get over here.’ So me, my fiancé, our two kids, Tobey, we all went into Tobey’s house and we are all sleeping there.”
Jennifer also believed that her divorce from Tobey taught her a lot and was the biggest lesson of her life. She also revealed that raising their kids taught her a lot of patience, and that during a difficult time, Tobey stepped in. She also revealed that while co-parenting, she and her ex-husband have overcome some big hurdles.
