Amid Archana Puran Singh grabbing the spotlight for her role in 'Toaster,' let's take a look at her love story with her husband, Parmeet Sethi.
Archana Puran Singh is a well-known Indian actress and television personality. She is best known for her comedic roles in Hindi films such as Love Story 2050, Krrish, Mohabbatein, De Dana Dan, and more. Some of her most notable works on television include Shrimaan Shrimati and Junoon, among others.
At present, Archana has been hogging the spotlight for her appearance in the recent film, Toaster. For those unaware, Toaster marks the debut of Rajkumar Rao and his wife, Patralekha, as producers. In the movie, Archana plays the role of a woman named ‘Pherwani,’ who puts Rajkumar's ‘Ramakant’ in several uncomfortable situations. Now, with the limelight on Archana, many have become curious about her personal life. If you are one of them, here's everything we know about her relationship with husband, Parmeet Sethi.
In one of Archana's YouTube videos, she and her husband, Parmeet Sethi, revealed that they had first met each other at a social gathering back in the late 1980s. As per The Times of India, the gathering in question was a friend's party. After meeting, Archana and Parmeet instantly felt a connection while clubbing later that night. While Archana waited for his call, Parmeet thankfully reached out to her the next day.
It is worth noting that when Archana and Parmeet met each other for the first time, both of them had just come out of long-term relationships and were not looking for anything serious. Archana herself has confessed, “This was earlier meant to be a fling.” Apparently, at the time, the duo would even remind each other on a daily basis not to get too serious, as their relationship was meant to be a casual arrangement.
It is widely believed that rebound relationships don't last for long, especially when both of them are coming out of failed relationships. Now, although Archana and Parmeet were each other's rebound, they successfully proved the stereotype wrong. Explaining how their relationship went from casual to one marked by lasting commitment, Archana shared, “People say rebound relationships don't last, but we are proof that they can work. Something that was supposed to be a one-night stand…we told each other very clearly that this would not be serious.”
Before they officially tied the knot, Archana and Parmeet had made the bold choice to be in a live-in relationship. It is worth noting that, with it being over 30 years ago, they drew criticism from both the public and those in their private circles. Despite societal judgment, Archana and Parmeet's relationship remained as strong as ever, thanks to their deep commitment, mutual respect, and understanding.
For those unaware, Archana and Parmeet got married way before the latter's iconic film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge (DDLJ) was released. Later, during a conversation with Pinkvilla, Parmeet revealed that he and Archana had tied the knot in secret. One of the reasons they decided to keep their wedding under wraps was that, at the time, actresses often faced professional slowdowns after marriage, and Archana was afraid of the same and wanted her career to remain unaffected. The fact that they were married only came to light when Archana was pregnant with their son, Aaryamann.
During an interview, Parmeet once admitted that when it came to his and Archana's relationship, things weren't so easy at his home. Apparently, his family initially did not approve of Archana as she was 7 years older than him, and she was an actress. This is because, at the time, there was a lot of taboo around actresses. He recalled how his parents came to him twice with proposals, saying things like, “She's a good girl.” However, Parmeet remained firm in his stance that he would only marry the person that he loves. Later, Parmeet confessed to Archana, “I don't want to search for anyone else. I've found what I was looking for.” After they both agreed to get married, that is when they later tied the knot in a secret wedding.
During a recent podcast appearance, Archana and Parmeet had a heartfelt conversation. Archana recalled that she had a tough time after having a miscarriage in the early years of her marriage. Apparently, at the time, she was not interested in having kids. But after four years of their marriage, she ended up conceiving. Talking about how the pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, Archana said: "Kids were something I absolutely did not want. But then, in the first four years of our marriage, towards the end of those four years, I conceived. Unfortunately, I couldn't carry the pregnancy through. At that time, I was working on a film, and it wasn't even about urgency; the film had its own timeline. I then had a miscarriage."
