In an interview with Abhishek Vyas on his YouTube channel, Sunita Ahuja shared that she would want a son like Govinda, but not a husband. Find out why.
Sunita Ahuja is known for her unfiltered comments, especially when it comes to her husband, Govinda. Recently, Sunita sat down for an interview with Abhishek Vyas on his YouTube channel. Among the things she said, what caught everyone's attention was her saying that Govinda is not at all a good example as a husband. According to her, he has not lived a life even after accomplishing so much as an actor.
During her chat with Abhishek Vyas on his YouTube channel, Sunita Ahuja shared her thoughts on her husband, Govinda. She said that Govinda is a good son and brother. However, when it comes to the role of a husband, Sunita wants someone like her who enjoys going to parties, dinners, holidays, and so on. Sadly, Govinda is always so busy indulging in providing for his family that he has never enjoyed it. Despite being 60 years old, he has never lived for himself. To quote Sunita:
“Beta bohot achcha hain, bhai bohot achcha hain, but as a husband jo mujhe chahiye… jaise mujhe na thoda shauk hain party karne ko, bahar dinner ke liye jaao, holiday ke liye jaao… But uska zindagi sivaay apne parivaar ke seva mein, uss aadmi ne kabhi mewai nahi khaya. Woh 60 saal ka ho gaya woh apne liye jiya hi nahi aaj tak. Woh mujhe dukh hota hain.”
Sunita Ahuja went on to claim that when you are such a big superstar like Govinda, you don't get the chance to see anything in life. She said she wants a son like Govinda, not a husband. According to her, there is no point in regretting it because she cannot leave him now. She noted that it would be a crime to think about it, especially because they have been married for 40 years now. In her exact words:
“Aap jab itne badey superstar ho, aap ne kya zindagi dekha? Kuch nahi dekha. Mujhe beta chahiye Govinda ke jaisa, pati nahi chahiye. Ab regret karne ka faayda hi kya hain? Chhod toh nahi sakte na abhi? Ab 40 saal beet gaya hain ab toh sochna bhi gunaah hain.”
Last year, during an interview with Pinkvilla on November 8, 2026, Sunita Ahuja was asked if she would be interested in marrying Govinda again in her next life. She sternly refuted the thought by saying that she'd not want him as her husband again. Rather than her husband, she said that it would be better if Govinda were born as her son in her next life. She stated:
"Mujhe nahi chahiye. Maine toh pehle hi bata diya tha. Govinda is a very good son, he is a very good brother, but not a husband. Agle janam tu mera beta banke paida hona, pati toh tu nahi chahiye. Saath janam toh bhool jao, yeh janam hi kaafi hai."
While Govinda became a household name in the 1990s, many might not be aware that his relationship with Sunita Ahuja had already begun long before that. If reports are believed to be true, Sunita is related to her now-husband through his maternal family. This led them to meet each other for the first time when they were very young. The duo quietly tied the knot in March 1987. They decided to keep the ceremony private because Govinda was just stepping into films at the time.
Sunita and Govinda managed to keep their marriage under wraps for many years after that and revealed it only after they welcomed their first child, a daughter. For those unaware, Sunita and Govinda share two children, a daughter named Tina Ahuja, who has previously been seen in films, and a son, Yashvardhan Ahuja, who is reportedly preparing to make his debut in Bollywood.
