This happened with Rishabh and Sonali as people neglected the joy on their faces and chose to attack them due to their skin colour. If not skin colour, then the society's judgement about a fair lady getting married to a dark man, which led them to assume that the man must have money, and the lady must be a gold digger. Such comments on their happiest moments affected the couple to a point that they couldn't celebrate their love from open hearts; rather, they remained hurt over the talk around. It was in 2014 when they first met, and eventually in 2015, they started dating. As Sonali got married to Rishabh, people tagged her as a 'gold digger', assuming her husband must have a lot of money or he might be a government employee. The reason is judgmental as the skin colour became more of a factor for people to talk about, rather than the fact that the couple has been in love for over a decade.

Sonali accepted that things actually have been hard on her part as well, as she read all these mean comments on their wedding video, which was supposed to be a happy memory for them. Rishabh questioned people's audacity to troll even families, that too depending only on his skin colour. He also questioned how people could call his wife a 'gold digger' without knowing anything about them. He said that he had been manifesting the moment of marrying Sonali for 11 long years. He further stated that he might have faced colour discrimination, and maybe he is dark-skinned, but to his wife, he wants to be the 'best husband', as he has gotten her through the toughest times of his life. He said:

"I may be dark-skinned and have faced discrimination, but to my wife, I want to be the best husband. Don’t talk nonsense about someone’s family."

Rishabh's profession has not been officially disclosed, but he, during an interview with BBC, shared that he has worked really hard to reach where he's now, and it was Sonali who has been supporting him from the time she had nothing. Reacting to people's mean comments over her husband's complexion, Sonali, during an interview with Mypune Pulse, said:

"I had no compulsion. I am very happy, and this was entirely my decision. People in India often think fair skin is better. This mindset should change. Color should never determine someone’s worth.”

Rishabh Rajput and Sonali Chouksey's wedding raises questions about colourism

In a world where everything seems to be moving forward, a couple being questioned and trolled for making their share of choices seemed to be meaningless. This is exactly what Rishabh and Sonali felt as well. The duo, who have been together throughout most of their lives, got trolled as their wedding video surfaced. It didn't end there, even the families were dragged into the chaos, along with the girl being questioned about her choices and being tagged as a 'gold digger', raising questions around even to the couple themselves. Be it anything, the couple is now focusing on their peace rather than being bothered by the comments around them due to colourism. Their love story shows how two people could stand together against all the odds, even when the world is trying to drag them down.
