According to a report by India Today, the accused Siya has told the police that she did not want to marry Ketan and believed that if he was killed, she would get at least three more years before having to think about marriage. Police reportedly believe that Siya's boyfriend and co-accused, Chetan Chaudhary, also wanted another two to three years before marrying Siya Goyal, which made this their apparent "perfect plan".
According to the report, police said that Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary travelled to Udaipur with some friends in January 2026, weeks before she got engaged to Ketan Agarwal. It was later revealed that Chetan hails from Rajasthan and used to play cricket with Siya's elder brother. Police believe that Siya first met Chetan while accompanying her brother to matches, before they later reconnected. While the layers unravel, the incident has once again brought marital crime into question, with the country questioning the societal pressure and the youth's psyche, which leads them to make such decisions.
The authorities reportedly questioned Sahil for nearly 10 hours, with Siya's whole family insisting they would never have forced her into marriage with Ketan. During the interrogation, Sahil reportedly told investigators that the family would have immediately cancelled the wedding if Siya had expressed any reluctance about marrying Ketan. However, despite her family's repeated confirmation, Siya had allegedly agreed to marry Ketan. Sahil reportedly told the police:
"If Siya had said she didn't like Ketan, we would have stopped the wedding."
The police officials have asserted that there is a good chance that Ketan Agarwal's death was not a spontaneous act, but rather a well-planned conspiracy. It is alleged that the deceased's fiancee, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, searched the internet for information on murder methods before the incident. A recent search of Siya Goyal's phone records and surveillance data revealed some shocking findings. Police analysed these records and found out that she and the co-accused, Chetan, had allegedly been in frequent contact for months before Ketan Agarwal's tragic demise.
Investigators found that Siya and Chetan had exchanged 2,004 phone calls and spent nearly 238 hours speaking to each other over the last six months. These WhatsApp and FaceTime calls revealed the layers of their relationship and the alleged conspiracy. The police have now shared their electronic devices with the forensic team to recover deleted texts, which might help them uncover the truth behind Ketan Agarwal's murder.
