In a recent candid conversation with Zoom, Kunal Kemmu shared what made him choose a comedy-drama series like Single Papa. Kunal mentioned that when he started reading the script, he just couldn’t stop reading as it was very interesting. Unlike something heavy, the script of Single Papa was easy to read, which left him laughing and emotional at the same time. He highlighted that if the script can be portrayed on-screen properly, then the audience will experience the same thing as he experienced while reading the script. He was quoted as saying:
"When we read the rest of the episodes, the first thing was that it is a page-turner. When you are reading something heavy, you put it down. I remember I finished one episode and then I picked the other episode, went through it and I just didn't stop because I wanted to know what's going to happen. It was very easy-to-read, it made laugh when I read and there were moments that made me slightly emotional. That was the first draw for me into the show."
In the same conversation, Kunal opened up about parenthood. The Single Papa actor shared that although he didn’t discover anything as a father during the shoot, he realised that he was comfortable working with a child that was not his own. He called the little one 'amazing' and 'adorable'. He recalled the time when his own daughter, Inaaya, was four or six months old and shared that the experience helped him to handle the child with care. He was quoted as saying:
"I just realised that I was comfortable working with a child who was not just mine. It was also thanks to the wonderful kid who was on set. He is amazing and adorable. The only added thing was that because I've been a parent, I had some memories of my own time when Inaaya (his and Soha Ali Khan's daughter) was four or six months old. That experience let me handle the child with care. Also, certain scenes, I could draw from true-life emotions that I had. So, that helped me play this side of Gaurav slightly better."
