Sia and Dan Bernad were married from 2022 to 2025, and they also shared a child. The duo has now reached a new divorce settlement related to child support and custody of their son.
Sia and Dan Bernad’s marriage ended in March 2025 when the former filed for divorce. The duo tied the knot around four years ago in 2022. They share a child together, and Sia is already a mother of two more kids she had adopted in the past. While it has been almost a year since Dan and the singer split, they have reached a divorce settlement recently. Keep reading to know more!
The documents related to the divorce settlement were obtained by PEOPLE on April 6, 2026. The documents that were filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court stated that Sia has to pay child support of USD 42,500 per month to Dan Bernad. The process has already started on April 1, 2026. Notably, Sia has to follow the orders until her son, Somersault Wonder Bernad, turns 18 or becomes a high school student, followed by his graduation, or turns 19.
However, the process will be discontinued in case there is some unexpected incident, such as death, marriage, or some other court order. Sia will additionally cover the expenses needed for healthcare, extracurricular activities, and private tuition. The court documents stated that Sia should ensure to have a health insurance for Somersault. Apart from these, a life insurance policy of USD 5 million has to be maintained by Sia, ensuring a good future for her son in case something happens to her. Sia has to form a trust or include her son as a beneficiary in the insurance policy.
The court documents stated that Sia and Dan Bernad will have joint legal custody of Somersault. The physical custody will follow a particular schedule from April 1, 2026, on the weekends and normal days of the week. The holidays, school breaks, and communication are also included in the entire schedule. While Dan will get the custody of his son on occasions like Father’s Day and Hanukkah, Sia will get the same on Mother’s Day, Easter, and Christmas.
Around seven months after Sia filed for divorce from Dan Bernad, the latter was seeking sole custody of his son in October 2025. Dan claimed in the legal documents that Sia was an unfit parent battling with problems like addiction. However, Sia clarified in another filing that she was sober for more than six months. Sia also revealed that she was a part of a recovery program, adding that the differences in the lifestyles on both sides were the reason behind her split from Dan.
Furthermore, Dan’s request was dismissed by the court a week after he filed for sole custody of his son. The judge declared at that time that sufficient evidence was not shown to issue an emergency order. The court documents also revealed:
“The parties entered into a stipulated legal custody and interim physical custody arrangement on August 1, 2025. Most of the facts asserted in Respondent’s RFO were known at that time.”
