Singer, Oliver Tree and YouTuber, Gaspi, were among the 6 people who died in a helicopter crash in Brazil. Here's everything we know about the accident.
In a piece of tragic news, it has been revealed that singer, Oliver Tree has passed away. The news has left the music industry and his fans in complete shock as nobody saw it coming. For those unaware, Oliver was best known for his songs, Life Goes On and Miss You.
According to reports, Oliver Tree died in a tragic helicopter crash in Brazil, which also involved YouTuber, Gaspi. The local authorities revealed that Oliver and 5 others were killed after two helicopters collided above an electric vehicle yard in Southwest Rio de Janeiro, in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, which is a popular tourist destination. The incident reportedly happened on Sunday morning, June 14, 2026. At the time of his death, Oliver was only 32 years old.
In the helicopter that Oliver Tree was on, there were four other people: passengers, Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim, Lucas Brito Chaves, and the pilot, Alexandre Souza. Meanwhile, the other helicopter involved in the crash was flown by just the pilot, Charles Marsillac. As of now, an investigation is underway to determine the exact reason that the two helicopters crashed. Additionally, it is worth noting that Oliver Tree's family has not yet confirmed details about the singer's involvement in the crash. Although Rio's Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere had said after the crash that there were “foreign nationals on board one of the aircraft,” without giving away any further details. Later, the ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) issued a statement which read:
“The National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) reports that it has become aware of the air accident involving two helicopters, today, June 14th, in Rio de Janeiro, and is investigating the situation of the aircraft and pilots involved in the case. The investigations into the causes will be conducted by the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENIPA). ANAC regrets the incident, expresses its solidarity with the families and friends of the victims, and reiterates to all passengers on general aviation flights that they should verify the status of companies and aircraft before boarding.”
Reportedly, both helicopters crashed into the electric vehicle parking lot, sparking a massive fire in the area. In an interview, Rio Fire Services Lieutenant Colonel Fabio Contreiras revealed that the fire's damage at the scene made it very difficult to determine how the accident occurred. He also added that the helicopter with five victims was found fully engulfed by the flames. He was quoted as saying:
“Parts of the aircraft are scattered hundreds of meters away, so the information we have is still very preliminary. We really need to get the recordings and videos to understand exactly what happened.”
Since the news of Oliver Tree's tragic death came to light, fans have already begun reacting to it. Their reactions highlight just how much he will be missed and how sad it is that the singer passed away at what they consider a young age. For instance, one social media user wrote, “32 is way too young. RIP Oliver Tree.” Another wrote, “Life goes on, but it won't be the same without you. Rest in power, Oliver Tree. #RIP.” A third user penned, “RIP.... don't fly on helicopters folks, they got Kobe, they got Oliver Tree, don't let them get you.” Another tweet read, “Oliver Tree was a divisive artist. He also was better at music than 99.9% of humans ever.”
Oliver Tree first shot to fame in 2010 when he was just 17 years old. At the time, he used to work with Skrillex and Zeds Dead under the name, “Tree.” In 2013, Oliver released an independent album before taking a break from the industry to study music technology. Years later, in 2020, he released his first studio album, Ugly is Beautiful, which went gold in the United States. Before his death, Oliver reportedly had a number of tour dates lined up in the US, Europe, Australia, and China.
