Now, the MLB star revealed the joyous news that they have welcomed another child. The news has left several fans wondering about the couple's age gap. Well, according to reports, Shohei Ohtani was born on July 5, 1994. This makes him 31 years old as of June 2026. On the other hand, his wife, Mamiko, was born on December 11, 1996, making her 28 years old as of June 2026. This means that Shohei and Mamiko have a pretty small age gap of 2 years.
Shohei Ohtani took to his social media on June 20, 2026, to announce that he and his wife, Mamiko, have welcomed their second child. The day before, on June 19, 2026, the MLB star had left fans surprised after he decided to miss the Dodgers game. On his Instagram handle, Shohei shared a text-filled image alongside a sweet picture of his newborn. It is worth noting that he did not show the face of his child, as the picture only featured the feet of the newborn. As of now, Shohei and Mamiko have also not disclosed the gender of their second child. In the note, Shohei wrote about how he is grateful to everyone who has supported him in this journey. According to reports, Shohei Ohtani and Mamiko Tanaka first crossed paths in Japan before the MLB star joined the Los Angeles Dodgers. They had apparently practised in the same sports training centre. For those unaware, Mamiko is a former basketball player. She had played for the Fujitsu Red Wave of the Women's Japan Basketball League for four years as their forward.
Shohei and Mamiko tied the knot in 2024, although they chose to keep the news a secret at the time. Later, Shohei surprised fans in February of the same year by revealing that he was married but made sure to keep Mamiko's identity hidden. He penned a note in Japanese to announce the news of his marriage. The translation of the note can be read as:
"The season is approaching, I am pleased to announce to you that I have gotten married. We are still young, and there are many things we don’t know yet, but we hope you will warmly watch over us.
