Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleActor Shia LaBeouf and his wife, Mia Goth, have been in an on-again, off-again relationship for over a decade. The pair started dating around 2012, and their relationship has finally come to an end after years of breakups, reconciliations, marriage, and parenthood.
Now, as The Odyssey actress finally files for a divorce from LaBeouf, an explosive confrontation the couple had in Germany in 2015 has resurfaced, bringing renewed attention to one of the most unsettling moments from the early days of their relationship.
The old footage, which was obtained and published by Entertainment Tonight at the time, showed LaBeouf and Goth arguing outside a hotel in Tübingen, Germany. The confrontation eventually drew the attention of local men, who offered to drive LaBeouf to the airport after he said he did not want the situation to become violent.
The confrontation took place in 2015 while Goth was in Germany filming A Cure for Wellness. LaBeouf, then 29, was visiting Goth, 22, when the two became involved in a heated argument outside a hotel.
In the video, the pair could be heard arguing before LaBeouf walked away and encountered several German locals. They offered to take him to the airport, and he accepted the ride. Goth then returned and took LaBeouf's backpack, appearing to plead with him not to leave. LaBeouf eventually approached her and repeatedly asked for his bag. At one point, he told her, "I don't wanna touch you. I don't wanna be aggressive. This is the kind of s*** that makes a person abusive."
The exchange remained tense, with LaBeouf repeatedly asking Goth to give him his backpack. He eventually got it back and left with the men who had offered him a ride. During the ride, LaBeouf made a disturbing comment about what he believed could have happened if he had stayed.
LaBeouf appeared visibly upset as he discussed the confrontation. He said, "If I'd have stayed there, I would have killed her." He also described the situation as "really f***ed up" and appeared emotional while talking about what had happened. The men reportedly offered to take him to a hospital after he appeared to have injured his hand. LaBeouf told them, "You saved my life."
The footage also showed him attempting to FaceTime his Transformers co-star Megan Fox before the conversation turned to guns. The locals eventually dropped him off at the airport. Reports at the time claimed Goth was later seen with an injury around her eye, although those reports were not independently confirmed.

LaBeouf and Goth met while they were working on Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac: Vol. II and began dating around 2012. Their relationship was turbulent from the beginning, with the pair repeatedly breaking up and reconciling.
The couple appeared to marry in 2016 in Las Vegas, although questions were later raised about whether the ceremony was legally recognized. They were again seen wearing wedding rings after they reunited in 2020. They welcomed their daughter in 2022 and largely kept their family life private over the years.
Years later, LaBeouf spoke openly about mistakes he had made in his relationship with Goth. In a 2026 interview, he said they had been "deeply unhappy" and acknowledged that he had violated her trust in a significant way. He said:
"We were deeply unhappy. I made a lot of mistakes early on before we tried to have a baby. I had violated trust in a big, big way."
LaBeouf also acknowledged broader problems in his past relationships. In a previous interview, he said he had "cheated on every woman" he had been with and described himself as selfish, dishonest, and inconsiderate. He has also spoken about struggling with anger and ego, saying those issues were more significant for him than drinking.
Mia Goth has now filed for divorce from LaBeouf, nearly a decade after their reported 2016 marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. Neither Goth nor LaBeouf has publicly commented on the divorce filing.
