Samay Raina Opens Up On India's Got Latent Controversy, 'Hum Kashmiri Cross Fire Mein Hi Marte Hai'

After almost a year of facing significant backlash and hate, Samay Raina opened up about the darkest phase and having to delete 'India's Got Latent' due to Ranveer Allahbadia's blunt remark.

Samay Raina's name was dragged into a soup of controversy last year due to his show, India's Got Latent, which was known for dark comedy. However, it was the panellist, Ranveer Allahbadia's remark that not only put him in trouble but everyone associated with the unique reality show. After a year of major lows and losses, Samay Raina is back on the comedy scene with his special, Still Alive.

Samay Raina's take direct digs at people who took advantage of his situation during India's Got Latent controversy 

Samay Raina is known for his dark comedy, a form of comedy which is not easily acceptable in India. While Samay makes jokes out of the darkest situations, his show, India's Got Latent, gave platforms to many to speak out and win. Addressing the biggest controversy of all time, Samay revealed how the situation spiralled after Ranveer Allahbadia stepped out of his clean image. Referring to him, Samay joked that a clean person cannot act insane on the internet. And called him the monk who sold his Ferrari.

As per Samay, the controversy broke out due to the image he had built among the audience. Samay further revealed how the controversy broke him and called it dark times. Taking a jibe at himself, Samay stated that Kashmiris die in crossfire. He revealed that the show faced backlash in India, but it received amazing support from Pakistan. He said, "Hum Kashmiri cross fire mein hi marte hain."

Samay also slammed those celebrities who took advantage of the controversy. Talking about the backlash, Samay highlighted how politicians, celebrities, and everyone wanted to gain something from their bad times. He poked fun at Sunil Pal and revealed that he advised him to learn from Kapil Sharma, who was the next guest on his show. He even took a dig at B Praak and veteran actor, Mukesh Khanna, and stated that these were the ones who were chasing attention. He said:

"Shaktiman aa gaya tha yaar. Shaktiman se kaise ladenge. Tune bache mare hain, tu kya moral high ground le ke baitha hai.”

Samay Raina's show started receiving hate after Ranveer Allahbadia's crass comment on parents

For the unversed, last year, Samay Raina faced police enquiries and FIRs, and he was forced to take down all the episodes of his show, India's Got Latent. Talking about the controversy, an outburst of netizens was seen after Ranveer Allahbadia questioned one of the contestants on the show about whether the person would watch his parents get intimate for the rest of their lives or join them and stop it all forever. This left even Samay and the rest of the guests on the show in shock.

Taking to his Instagram stories, Samay also addressed the ongoing hate and revealed that he had deleted all the videos of his show, India's Got Latent, from his YouTube channel. He added that all the backlash was way too much for him to handle. He wrote:

"Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India's Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly."
