Ray J, a famous singer and songwriter, grabbed the attention a few months back when he said that '2027' could be a 'wrap' for him. Over time, Ray J, the famous singer who also made a mark and solidified his career in TV, expressed concerns about his health, followed by a series of health issues and hospitalisations. While he was battling with his health problem, Ray J recently hit the headlines yet again, as he was brutally knocked out at a celebrity MMA match.
Ray J recently joined Adin Ross’ UFC Apex event in Las Vegas, wherein he faced Supa Hot Fire, who brutally knocked the singer out. Amid this MMA match, let's have a look at his tumultuous relationship with his estranged wife, Princess Love.
Princess Love is a woman with multiple talents. She is from Oakland, California, and partially grew up in Texas. Love is someone who deeply values her culture. Speaking of her career, she's a serious poker player, and has had some success in that field. It was in December 2023 when Princess Love became the first Black woman to make it to the top 45 of the World Poker Tour World Championship, wherein she finished at the 40th position. Two months later, in February 2024, she became the winner of the Celebrity Poker Tour Invitational II in Las Vegas.
Apart from being a poker player, Ray J's estranged wife, Princess Love, also loves to cook. Not only is she passionate about making new dishes, but she also shares them on social media, through her professional channel, @prepwithprincess. The channel currently holds more than 92K followers, and it's filled with yummilicious dishes made by Princess Love. Along with Ray J, Princess Love appeared on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, where they shared their life, spanning 6 seasons from 2014 to 2019. The duo was also seen in VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Miami and Zeus show, The Conversation, which featured them trying to mend their relationship with the help of a mediator.
Apart from being a TV personality who is into poker and also a cook-fluencer, Princess Love is also an actress who worked in films like The Deadly Getaway (2022) and The Microchip that Ruined Halloween (2023). Love also works as a model for several brands. She is also listed as a producer for the Zeus shows, The Conversation and One Mo Chance. Princess Love also has her own beauty brand, PRELLA Cosmetics.
Ray J and Princess Love started dating sometime around 2012. The couple met through boxer, Mayweather, and eventually started falling for each other. Speaking on the Club Shay Shay podcast, Ray J revealed that he started seeing Princess Love, when she was romantically involved with the boxer. He, in the same interview, recalled setting up Mayweather with two women, who were supposed to be his love interests on a show.
Well, on being asked more about liking someone whom his friend was involved with, Ray J said that he is very open in friendship and if a friend of his has a liking for someone, he likes, then he has no issue with it. He also mentioned that he loved Princess Love, and Mayweather didn't. Well, Ray J and Mayweather's friendship were not there anymore, but it was not because of him dating Princess Love, but because he felt that some feelings and respect were not reciprocated. To mention, he further hoped that one day their friendship would be mended. Speaking about the same, Ray J added:
"If she like me, and you in a relationship with your baby mama, you got your main girl, you got all this — and then you like Princess too but you ain't super locked in, and we want to be locked in? Congratulate and celebrate with us. I've seen him out and it's all love. I don't have any issues and he doesn't either, but our friendship is not there no more. Not that he gives a f*ck. Because I loved he. He didn’t love her.”
Well, after dating Princess Love for four years, Ray J married her in 2016. Following this, the couple grew their family and welcomed two kids, Melody and Epik. Princess Love holds so much love for Ray J, and speaking about the same after their wedding to PEOPLE, she said that her love for the singer is so much and to the point that it does not even matter if he does not love her back. She further mentioned that Ray J is someone who is the only person in her life, without whom she couldn't imagine how her life would be. This statement undoubtedly spoke volumes about her love for her estranged husband. She said:
"I just love him to the point where it doesn’t matter what he does. He’s the only person I’ve ever been with that I couldn’t see myself without."
While there was love, Princess' relationship with Ray J faced several ups and downs. The couple filed for divorce for 4 times, the first being in May 2020, which was dismissed two months later in July 2020. In September 2020, Ray J filed for divorce and dismissed the same in March 2021. In October 2021, again, the singer filed for divorce, and it was dismissed in 2023, after they reconciled in December 2022. The couple filed for divorce again in 2024, and in June of the same year, Ray J expressed his wish to reconcile; however, no report about their reconciliation is out till now.
After Ray J announced that 2027 might be a 'wrap' for him, Princess Love took a significant step and changed a protective order that previously did not allow Ray J to meet his two children. While this sparked questions about the duo's relationship and whether they reconciled, it was never confirmed, and seemingly, it was a way for Love to be supportive of Ray J.
