While it remains to be seen whether Martin can lead his team to victory, the focus has also shifted to his personal life, especially his famous wife, Helene Spilling, with many wondering about their age gap.
Martin Odegaard has been making a name for himself in Norwegian football ever since he was 15. This is why it came as no surprise that he decided to marry someone with significant star power. For those unaware, Martin’s wife, Helene was born on April 17, 1996. This means that she is currently 30 years old as of July 2026. Meanwhile, Martin was born on December 17, 1998, making him 27 years old as of now. According to this, Helene is older than Martin, and the duo share an age gap of nearly 3 years.
Martin began dating the former dancer and television personality in early 2023, although they decided to keep their relationship largely out of the public eye. They made their first appearance as a couple at the London Football Awards in March 2023. Fans were finally convinced that Martin and Helene were in a relationship when they spotted them out and about in the capital again the following month.
A year later, in August 2024, Martin and Helene revealed that they were expecting their first child together with a heartfelt pregnancy announcement on social media. They welcomed their first child, a son named Matheo, on December 1, 2024.
It was before Matheo was born that Martin and Helene tied the knot in secret in a private civil ceremony in November 2024. While they did not make any public announcement about their marriage, the biggest giveaway was when Helene changed her legal name to Helene Spilling Odegaard. At the time, eagle-eyed fans also noticed that she was sporting an engagement ring on her finger.
The duo later held a larger wedding ceremony in June 2025. Held in Gjerdrum, Norway, the ceremony was not only attended by Martin and Helene’s family and close friends, but also by several of the former’s Arsenal teammates. Helene took to her Instagram handle to share some snaps from her big day.
In the first picture, the couple looked like they were lost in each other's gaze. The second snap showcased Martin and Helene’s first dance as a married couple. One picture in the carousel showed the duo happily cutting a large wedding cake. A snap even showed the footballer getting teary-eyed while exchanging vows. Helene captioned the post:
“Just you and me. What a weekend. Thank you to everyone who celebrated the day with us, and to everyone who helped create our dream wedding. We are so grateful and happy for all the magical moments!”
Helene Spilling shot to fame when she won the 17th series of Norway’s version of Dancing with the Stars. Reports suggest that she began dancing when she was 12 years old. Following this, she went on to pursue a career in competitive dancing in Lithuania.
It is worth mentioning that Helene has won the Norwegian dance championship 17 times and has also represented her country at European and world level. At present, Helene serves as a brand ambassador for Thune, one of the most prestigious jewellery brands in Norway. She is also the founder and owner of The Dance Studio in Oslo.
