Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty have been friends since their youth and have been in an on-again, off-again relationship. Nicki and Kenneth once appeared together on Queen Radio, where she told him that a fan asked how he and Nicki got involved. Nicki answered her fan and revealed that she was 17 or 18 and had a boyfriend. He was her first love, but she was also seeing Kenneth.
Later in the story, Nicki revealed that one day she was at her house with her boyfriend when Kenny called, and they yelled at each other on the phone. When Kenny saw Nicki and her boyfriend, he allegedly beat him up in order to let him know that Nicki was his woman. She later revealed that her love story with Kenneth went off track as they went their separate ways. In her words:

Kenneth "Zoo" Petty entered Nicki Minaj's life before she rose to global fame. According to People, the duo first met as teenagers at LaGuardia High School in New York City. They dated briefly before their life and careers took them in completely different directions. However, the ex-flames found their way to each other and reconnected in 2018.
When Nicki linked up with Kenneth, it raised eyebrows because Kenneth had a disturbing past. For those unversed, Kenneth served time in prison after being convicted of first-degree rape in 1995 when he was 16, with a sentence of four years, and later spent time behind bars from 2006 to 2013 on a manslaughter conviction.
After Nicki made her relationship with Kenneth official, a source told Us Weekly at the time that the couple had previously “dated when [Nicki] was a teenager, before she was famous.” The same was confirmed by her, as she once revealed:
“Facts, but we were like this about each other since we were very young kids in the hood. He was on my body b4 the big ol’ booty. B4 the fame & fortune. Fought my bf cuz I wouldn’t be his girl. He was always a lil crazy. But anyway, timing is everything.”
Despite all the controversies and legal trouble, Nicki Minaj has stood by Kenneth and repeatedly defended him and their relationship. They got married on October 21, 2019. Nicki herself confirmed that she was with someone who understands her and brought her peace. The couple welcomed their son on September 30, 2020. However, despite their fame, the couple chose to raise their son in privacy and haven't even shared his name with the world.
