Savannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy Guthrie has been kidnapped from her home. A missing persons case was filed back on February 1, 2026, and since then, there has been no sign of Nancy. An investigation has been going on to find Nancy Guthrie, and amid this, a dead body was found on the Phoenix canal, leading people to wonder if there's any link between the 84-year-old missing author and the dead body.
For the unversed, it was on February 1, 2026, when Nancy Guthrie went missing, and since then, investigations have been ongoing, leading to several suspects in this case, but till now, in the fifth week of the search mission, there are no traces of Nancy. Amid this, finding the dead body of a woman somewhat worried people. But to confirm, it was not Nancy!
It was on Friday, i.e. on March 7, 2026, when a dead body was found in a canal near Phoenix, which was 100 miles from Tucson, where Nancy Guthrie went missing. With the report going viral, people started wondering if it had anything to do with Nancy Guthrie. However, later authorities have confirmed that the dead body was not connected to Nancy's disappearance.
As per the authorities, they got a phone call about the dead body in the canal, and after reaching there, it was found out that the unresponsive woman was already dead. The deceased was identified as Alex Fleming, a 42-year-old from Phoenix, who was found in a canal. Her body reportedly showed some signs of trauma, which has not been revealed as well. To mention, there's no connection between Nancy and the dead body which was found.
A full-blown search mission has been going on to find Nancy Guthrie for a long time now. Well, if the reports are to be believed, the search mission is now involving reviewing surveillance patterns and behavioural indicators, which led the investigators to reportedly tell the local reporters that the suspect can likely be someone from Nancy Guthrie's close circle, and even a person in the neighbourhood. Given this case, Nancy Guthrie's son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, was also one of the suspects in this case.
Tommaso was the last person to see Nancy Guthrie before she went missing, and speculations were rife that he could be one of the suspects. However, later it was revealed by the authorities that no person from Guthrie's family is involved in this case, and on the other hand, all of them have been supportive. Now, investigators stated that there could be posibility of a close person to Nancy being linked to this case. Stating that they are going to be looking back at patterns, the investigators stated:
"I mean, if you look at the numbers, it's more often than not that someone that's really close. Could this be a neighbor? Yes. So even though they may be a person in the neighborhood, they're going to be looking for patterns."
A recent report claimed that a former suspect, Luke Daley, has been planning to sue the Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos. Previously, Chris Nanons was slammed by Luke Dalye.
