Amid rumours of a new season of 'Money Heist', Netflix confirmed the buzz by releasing a teaser and revealing 'Professor' as one of the masked men.
One of the most-loved series, Money Heist, hooked people on their screens. The series was about a group of robbers who attempt to carry out the most perfect robbery in history by stealing 2.4 billion euros from the Royal Mint of Spain. While all the characters in the series played pivotal roles, it was the ‘Professor’, played by Alvaro Morte, who was the mastermind behind the heist.
There had been a lot of speculation about the series and how it was set to return with season 6. Although the original series concluded its narrative arc between 2017 and 2021, there is always hope that it will return with a new season. And now, on May 14, 2026, Netflix confirms the buzz and releases the show's teaser.
The scene opened with many masked individuals, the theme ‘Bella Ciao’ playing in the background. While the teaser continues to captivate audiences with its gripping heists and emotional depth. One of the masks gets removed to show the face of an individual and it is none other than The Professor. The caption to the teaser can be read as:

The announcement of Money Heist took place at a promotional event in Seville, Spain, where thousands of fans gathered along the Guadalquivir River. Attendees donned red jumpsuits, celebrated with the iconic anthem Bella Ciao, and the event quickly went viral on social media. And soon, buzz about a new season of the iconic series paved its way to the headlines.
The announcement of Money Heist also stems from Netflix's announcement of the second season of the spin-off series, Berlin, titled “Berlin and The Lady With an Ermine”. Berlin season 2 is set to premiere on May 15, 2026. Berlin 2 will centre on Andres de Fonollosa, known as Berlin, as he embarks on another heist with his crew. The story is set against the backdrop of Seville and will delve into Berlin’s past with a new plot.
Created by Alex Pina, Money Heist was initially intended as a two-part series. Netflix acquired the global rights to the series in 2017, recutting the episodes into 22 shorter episodes and releasing them worldwide. The show was released in five parts from 2017 to 2021, becoming one of the most loved series. The Italian anti-fascist song Bella Ciao, which plays multiple times throughout the series, became a hit with audiences. By 2018, Money Heist became the most-watched non-English-language series and one of the most-watched series overall on Netflix.
