Former actress Eva Mendes was born on March 5, 1974. She began her acting career in the late 1990s with several roles in films such as Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror and Urban Legends: Final Cut. However, she rose to fame with the film, Training Day. Later, she appeared in more films, including All About The Benjamins, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Hitch, Ghost Rider, The Spirit, We Own the Night, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, Last Night, The Place Beyond the Pines, Out of Time, The Women, The Other Guys, and Girl in Progress.
Ryan and Eva first crossed paths on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines in August 2011. In the film, the pair played lovebirds, 'Romina' and 'Luke'. In the same year, in September 2011, the duo sparked dating buzz as they were spotted out and about together on a casual date at Disneyland’s California Adventure Park. Later, in October 2011, they seemingly confirmed their relationship after they were spotted sharing kisses.
The couple officially welcomed their first child, daughter Esmeralda Amada Gosling, on September 12, 2014. In a 2015 interview with Hello! Ryan expressed his love for Eva. He said, "I know that I’m with the person I’m supposed to be with. There’s nothing else I’m looking for." In 2016, the couple completed their family by welcoming their second daughter, Amada Lee Gosling.
However, it is worth noting that Eva is very private when it comes to Ryan and her kids. In a 2020 interview, Eva explained why she doesn’t share more photos of Ryan. In her words:
"I have always had a clear boundary when it comes to my man and my kids. I’ll talk about them, of course, with limits, but I won’t post pictures of our daily life. Since my children are still so little and don’t understand what posting their image really means, I don’t have their consent. And I won’t post their image until they’re old enough to give me consent."
In another interview with People, Eva called Ryan and her kids her 'home.' In 2022, Eva hinted at marriage to Ryan. On November 15, 2022, Eva took to her Instagram handle to share a picture showing a new tattoo on her wrist that says "de Gosling." In many Latinx cultures, especially in Spanish-speaking countries, some married women add "de" followed by their husband's surname, which means "wife of" or shows a family connection after marriage. However, Eva did not confirm that they were married.
In the same year, in November 2022, Eva called Ryan her husband. This was the first time she referred to The Notebook star as her husband. During a guest appearance on Channel 9’s Today in Australia, Eva said, "Everyone is so welcoming here, and my husband, Ryan, is here, and we are having the best time." While Eva prefers to keep her personal life private, she has never shied away from showing her support to Ryan. After the Academy announces Gosling’s Best Supporting Actor nomination for Ryan’s performance as 'Ken' in Barbie, Eva shared a love-filled message. She wrote:
"So proud of my man. So much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it. Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to the Oscars. So beyond proud to be this Ken’s Barbie."
