Shivon is the mother of Elon’s four kids: twins Strider and Azure, daughter, Arcadia, and son, Seldon Lycurgus. Amid their abrupt breakup, the focus has shifted to Shivon Zilis and her age-gap romance with Elon Musk.
Shivon Zilis was reportedly born on February 8, 1986, and grew up in Ontario, Canada. She attended college at Yale University, where she studied economics and philosophy. During her time at the university, Shivon was also a goalie on the ice hockey team and even tried to join the fencing team at the same time. She specializes in machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI).
Shivon began her career at IBM and Bloomberg, where she worked on internal startups and partnered with new startups. Later, she joined Bloomberg Beta, a venture capital firm that invests in technology companies. Shivon then focused more directly on AI. In 2016, she joined OpenAI, which was co-founded by Elon Musk.
One year later, in 2017, Shivon joined Neuralink, a company founded by Elon Musk that creates brain microchips to solve brain and spine problems. She is currently working as the director of special projects at the company.
Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis’ relationship grabbed significant attention due to their huge age gap. Elon was born on June 28, 1971, and is currently 55. On the other hand, Shivon was born on February 8, 1986, and is currently 40. This means Shivon is 15 years younger than Elon. In November 2021, the former couple secretly welcomed twins, Strider and Azure, in Austin, Texas.
The twins arrived just weeks before the SpaceX CEO welcomed a child via surrogate with his then-partner, Grimes. For those unaware, Elon Musk is a father of fourteen children. The twins’ births became public eight months later through court documents published by Insider. The legal documents revealed that the former couple had asked a Texas county court to change their children’s names so they would have their father’s last name and their mother’s last name as part of their middle names.
In June 2024, Elon Musk confirmed to Page Six that he and Shivon had welcomed their third child, a daughter named Arcadia, who was born on February 28, 2024. Later, in 2025, Zilis revealed that she and the SpaceX CEO had welcomed their fourth child, a son named Seldon. Everything was going well until late September 2026. On October 2, 2026, Shivon shocked everyone by sharing that Elon Musk had ended their relationship. She shared a lengthy statement and a text exchange ahead of their split to announce the breakup.
Shivon mentioned that it was hard to go from being in love with someone to letting go without any warning. Shivon explained that she was happy that she got to show Musk what it felt like to be deeply understood, nurtured, and peacefully loved with stability and gentleness. An excerpt from her statement can be read as:
"We were always his safe space. A place where all of us were overjoyed to see him and one that was always full of happiness and love, not war, in contrast to his otherwise militant existence (a needed break from the battlefield where he could recharge his heart and soul before heading back out). I am so beyond grateful for our children, and they make every single day the best day of my life! I do hope and pray he and I can be great friends and co-parents."
