David Bonreanaz has been making headlines as he joins 'The Rockford Files'. Amid that, let's take a look at his first marriage and how his 'single-guy' lifestyle led to its end.
David Boreanaz is well known for playing the role of 'FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth' in Fox TV's crime procedural comedy-drama series, Bones. Now, he is once again in the headlines as he joins the cast of The Rockford Files. The news has left his fans thrilled, which has also brought the limelight to his personal life.
While we are well aware of the six-foot-one-inch-tall actor's current relationship, let us take a quick look at his first marriage to former social worker-turned-screenwriter Ingrid Quinn. The couple had been married for almost 3 years. However, the actor's alleged lifestyle led to their divorce.
Sources previously have cited that Ingrid used to work as a social worker. However, the answer to what she's doing now has been a complete mystery. Nonetheless, we know for sure that she was 26 years old at the time of her split from David. Ingrid was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. Other than that, there's no confirmed information about her family or upbringing.
Ingrid Quinn married David Boreanaz in June 1997. Some reports claimed that the former had bought him a silver Claddagh for their wedding ring and even suggested he wore it in Buffy. However, while the actor didn't talk much about his first marriage or Ingrid, he did tell one of his friends how beautiful she was and how it was love at first sight for him. According to sources, David met Ingrid at an art gallery and started dating in 1994.
While David had a reputation as a player at the time and lived a wild life, sources believed they formed a strong relationship. Nonetheless, David's rep was evident in the 1998 lawsuit, which alleged that he and a roommate trashed a rented Hollywood home. They had also destroyed USD 70,000 of paintings and antiques. But as their relationship grew, David started to settle down, becoming more of a gentleman.
Ingrid and David's marriage started off strong. However, by 1999, the couple had called it quits, with the latter filing for divorce at the Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences. David also asked the judge to dissolve their two-and-a-half-year marriage. While he wanted the separation, David, in a 1999 interview with E!, called Ingrid "really supportive" despite their failing marriage. He stated:
"Ingrid’s always been supportive. She has the same attitude as I do: If you don’t get something, it’s not meant to be. She’ll help me along the way, as far as preparing for something. She’s tough as nails–one strong Irishwoman."
While neither Ingrid nor David confirmed the reason for their split, insiders often said that their breakup was the result of Ingrid's ultimatum. According to sources, she told David to "stop acting single, or we’re through". At the time, Ingrid stated that David was "acting like a footloose bachelor" and was subsequently putting their marriage on the rocks. The tabloids reported that David had developed an addiction to Hollywood nightlife. He was constantly attending events and parties and hanging out with a bunch of girls. Some even claimed that it was David who began distancing himself from Ingrid after he started appearing in Buffy's love scenes.
According to sources, he and the actress, Sarah Michelle, became too intimate, so much so that it made headlines in a few tabloids. Later, Ingrid grew more agitated when she saw a photograph in the papers of David and Sarah getting very close in the New York nightclub, Life. There were also pictures of them dancing together and holding hands. Some reports even claim that Sarah was not the only one David was getting close to. After two years of marriage, Ingrid and David eventually divorced in 1999. The former couple, though, didn’t have any children.
After her divorce from David Boreanaz, Ingrid completely disappeared from the media. The former social worker is no longer active in media circles, and there is no information about her whereabouts. Whether David's former wife gave love another go is also a mystery to the normal world.
After the separation, Ingrid's ex-husband married fellow actress and model Jaime Bergman in 2001. However, David's marriage to Jamie would also include some dark times. In fact, David landed in similar cycles to those he experienced with his first wife, Ingrid Quinn. Nonetheless, this time around, David admitted to cheating on her in an interview with PEOPLE in May 2010. He was quoted as saying:
"Our marriage has been tainted with my infidelities. I just want to be open and honest. I was irresponsible."
David admitted to cheating with a former mistress and additionally said she later contacted an attorney and threatened him to contact media outlets, unless he paid her. David felt that he was being blackmailed. According to reports, David had an affair with a woman named Rachel Uchitel, the same lady with whom Golf legend, Tiger Woods, reportedly committed adultery. Despite the infidelity, David and Jamie found a way to make their marriage work and are together to this day.
