She first joined the show as a finance reporter and later became one of the show’s main presenters. Naga has hosted the show for the last 12 years. Currently, she works 3 days a week on BBC Breakfast and 3 days a week on BBC Radio 5 Live’s mid-morning show.
From January 2027, Naga will stop presenting the TV show, BBC Breakfast and instead host BBC Radio 5 Live's Breakfast Show five days a week. Amid this, Naga’s personal life came under the spotlight. In her personal life, Naga is married to TV director James Haggar. Now, if you are interested in knowing more about him, we’ve got you covered.
Naga Munchetty’s husband, James Haggar, is a television director and broadcast consultant. He has previously worked as a senior director for companies such as CNBC, Sky and ITV. He worked as a senior director on Sky News' panel show, The Pledge, from 2015 to 2021, before moving to GB News as a creative director. While Naga’s professional life has always been in the spotlight, James prefers to keep his life away from the limelight.
Naga Munchetty has been very private when it comes to her relationship with her husband, James Haggar. But occasionally, she gave a rare glimpse into their longstanding romance and marital life. The couple’s first date took place at a pool hall. In a 2016 interview with Daily Mail, Naga shared, "My first date with James was at a pool hall. We love snooker and pool, and this is one of the cues for our snooker table – it's three-quarter-sized with grey baize, which is a bit more stylish than green."
The couple has been married since 2007. Naga once revealed on her BBC Radio 5 Live show that at her wedding she and James danced to a song named You're Just Too Good To Be True. While dancing, she had a trip and fell due to her puffy wedding dress. Recalling the moment, Naga shared:
"I don't know if I styled it out, but I did fall over in a big, puffy wedding dress during my first dance to You're Just Too Good To Be True. We even figured out a dance routine and everything. It didn't go to plan, but the wedding day was a success apart from that."
In a 2016 interview with The Guardian, the BBC Breakfast star shared the secret behind their successful long-lasting marriage. Naga also spoke about their shared interest in playing golf and spending quality time with each other. In her words:
"When James and I got married almost 12 years ago, one of his aunts said to us: the best bit of advice I can give you is to simply be kind to one another. She was right. James and I are both golfers, and I think it’s great for our relationship. It gives us a few hours together when we’re walking and talking and catching up; it really makes a difference. Golf takes you on a journey together, and it means you stay in touch with one another."
During a candid chat with Louise Minchin on the Her Spirit Podcast, Naga shared that she and James don’t have arguments and she highlighted, "He's a lovely, lovely man, he's definitely the better half." The one surprising revelation that Naga made about their relationship that they don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. According to Naga, the most romantic thing is to be kind. In her words:
"It would be an act of kindness; that's the most romantic thing I could think of, being kind to someone. Being kind to someone is romantic because all romance is, is showing that you've thought about someone else, and being thought about is a wonderful thing, and being cared for is a wonderful thing."
Naga has been very vocal about not having kids with James. Speaking to her Radio 5 Live listeners back in 2020, Naga shared she was called wicked for her decision to not have kids. But it was a joint decision of both her and James. She once said, "Not having children was a joint decision between my husband and me."
