It was on May 31, 2026, when Matt's brother confirmed that his body had been found.
For those who do not know, Matt Brown was a popular name. He was best-recognised as the original stars of Discovery Channel reality series, Alaskan Bush People. The series followed his entire family as they lived in remote wilderness areas. After rising to fame, Matt Brown stepped away due to addiction. Amid the star's death, do you know that he was once accused of sexually assaulting two women? Continue reading to revisit that tough time.
It was in 2020, when Matt Brown dominated the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Well, at that time, two women who worked with him claimed that the star sexually assaulted them. As per a report by PEOPLE, Jessica Jurges, former personal assistant of Matt Brown claimed that the reality star once assaulted her in a swimming pool, when he was drunk. She also revealed that when she failed to protect herself, it was another woman named Shelly Dawn, who jumped in between and saved her.
Just a few days later, Shelly Dawn, who was allegedly Matt Brown’s manager at the time, became the victim and faced a similar situation at Jessica Jurges. Shelly claimed that Matt Brown raped her at the same place when he was intoxicated. Reportedly, she had also stated that since he had undergone a hip replacement, she found it very difficult to defend herself. At that time Shelly spoke to The Sun and shared:
"It was just days after I had pulled him out of the pool when he was trying to get at Jessica. I was at the same house and that's when he raped me. He knew that I had a hip replacement and he knew that my legs aren't as strong as the rest of my body and that's how it happened. He was out-of-his-mind drunk. After it happened, he told me that I raped him — that's how drunk he was."
In 2020, when PEOPLE had a conversation with the Discovery Channel, they revealed that they have been informed about the 'serious' allegations and explained, "We agreed the local authorities should be contacted immediately. Due to the nature of the accusations we felt that all cooperation would be most appropriately handled by law enforcement."
Coming to Matt Brown, he had never addressed the accusations made by the two women. While the accusations made were very serious, no trial took place. Since the matter did not reach court, it is unclear if the accusations were true or false. It is worth noting that even though Matt Brown did not talk about the sexual assault allegations, in 2018, he spoke about his addiction and stated, "I struggle with substance abuse, and after a year of ups and downs, I decided to return to treatment."
Soon after an official investigation began for the search of Matt Brown, his brother confirmed that his body had been discovered. If reports are to be believed, Matt allegedly took his own life' however the exact cause of death has not been revealed by authorities. Recently, Matt's brother, Bear shared an emotional video, in which he spoke about Matt. He shared:
"I would have never suspected he would have hurt himself, honestly. He struggled for a long time, as I've mentioned. And I worried he was going to end up, like, OD'd or something like that."
