The 12th season of 90 Day Fiancé started airing on May 10, 2026. The latest installment arrives almost a year after the fifth season, which premiered back in 2025. The TLC reality series has grabbed attention for its unique format, where couples with a K-1 visa are allowed to enter the United States under one condition, which is to tie the knot within 90 days.
Meanwhile, the ongoing season has created headlines due to an unexpected situation that emerged in the case of Marissa Rubinetti and Edward Miguel Gomez. It was a result of Marissa’s ex-husband, Michael, having doubts about Edward and his intentions. Keep reading to know more!
The third episode of 90 Day Fiancé started trending when Michael expressed his doubts about Edward to Marissa. Notably, Marissa was waiting to welcome Edward in the US. However, Michael seemingly addressed the lifestyle differences between the duo, asking if Edward intended to get a green card instead of being with Marissa forever.
Michael referred to the problems that emerged between him and Marissa when they were married, since Marissa was born to a very rich family. Michael told Marissa that although she had a very luxurious house to stay, he never felt like he could adjust to the same place. Marissa responded by admitting that her parents were wealthy. Marissa continued by saying:
“They’ve exposed me to a lot as far as traveling, really nice vacations, beautiful hotels, things like that. I know it’ll be intimidating for Edward to meet and spend time with my family because they’re probably going to judge him and wonder what his intentions are, just like they did with Michael.”
Before Edward’s arrival, Marissa was concerned about Michael’s behaviour while maintaining excitement to meet Edward at the same time. On the other hand, Michael said that he is going to maintain an attitude in front of Edward. Michael also warned Marissa and said:
“The only thing that was an absolute problem is if it’s going to add stress to my boys, it’s going to be both of your guys’ problems. He needs to not come in hot and heavy and come at me a certain way because especially when it comes to my kids, I’ll bite someone’s face off for my kids.”
Things became normal once Edward arrived at the New York City airport. Marissa said that although she has doubts about letting go of the life where she was an independent woman, she was ready to take a different path because she loves Edward.
Marissa and Edward’s love story reportedly started in 2024 after the latter shared an Instagram post on the occasion of Valentine’s Day. Notably, the duo first met when Marissa went to Punta Cana for a girls’ trip. Edward is a hotel staff member from the Dominican Republic. On the other hand, Marissa has been active as the CEO and Vice President of Kleinfeld Bridal. The pair has an age gap of 13 years, as Edward is 32 and Marissa is 45. Edward popped the question to Marissa on February 10, 2026.
