'Khatron Ke Khiladi 11' contestant, Mahekk Chahal talked about her broken engagement and relationship with her ex-fiance, Ashmit Patel, and revealed why she thinks he wasn't the right person for her.
Popular actress, Mahekk Chahal is one of the participants of the upcoming season of the much-loved reality show, Khatron Ke Khiladi 11 and is all set to make her return on television after being featured in Bigg Boss 5. During the show's promotion, the actress talked about her broken engagement with her ex-fiance, Ashmit Patel and opened up about the reasons behind their split. For the uninitiated, Ashmit and Mahekk were close friends even before they had started dating each other. The two had felt something special towards each other after their friendship of 12 years.

The news of their dating had delighted their respective fanbases, and soon the couple had revealed that they had started living together. It was in August 2017, when Ashmit Patel had proposed to Mahekk Chahal in Spain, and the actress had said 'Yes'. There were reports of the two tying the knot soon, but because of some differences, the couple had kept on pushing their marriage further. However, in 2020, the couple had announced that they're no longer together and had shocked their respective fanbases, who were impatiently waiting to see them decked-up as bride and groom.
In an interview with ETimes TV, Mahekk Chahal talked about her ex-fiance, Ashmit Patel and revealed that she was the one, who chose to walk off from their relationship after she had discovered that Ashmit is not the right person for her. She said, "I chose to walk off. When you start living together and spending more time with a particular person, you get to know the real him/her. I don't think that Ashmit was the right person for me." The actress also added that it was her family members, who supported her after her breakup. She added, "My friends and family stood by me. I shared my issues with them. I spent a lot of time with nature in Goa; nature has a calming, soothing and healing influence on me. Time heals everything, and this time was no exception."
Going further in her conversation, Mahekk Chahal clearly stated that she has healed from her breakup with her ex-boyfriend, Ashmit Patel, and her work schedule had played an important part in it. She said, "It was not easy as there was no work during COVID; so your mind tends to keep thinking the same thing. But I have finally healed myself." For the uninitiated, Ashmit and Mahekk had worked together in Nirdosh (2018) and Red Affair (2017).

Last year, a Bombay Times report had revealed that the couple had parted ways, and a source close to the couple had shared, "They got engaged in August 2017, and were planning a destination wedding a year later. However, compatibility issues cropped up, and so they decided to push the wedding. Things gradually deteriorated, and a few months ago, they finally parted ways." When The Times of India had contacted the ex-couple, Mahekk had confirmed it and had said, "I left Ashmit. I had to take that step and walk out." On the other hand, Ashmit had said, "It's true that we are no longer together. I would request privacy on this matter and would not like to comment."
