However, their interfaith union became the talk of the town. At the age of 17, Monalisa tied the knot with her boyfriend, Farman Khan. There were speculations that Monalisa’s marriage was a part of love jihad. In a recent interview, Monalisa refuted the claims about the following.
Recently, Monalisa spoke to the media and set the record straight on false narratives set involving her marriage to a Muslim man. The 'Maha Kumbh' Girl revealed that she tied the knot with her boyfriend, Farman Khan, as per Hindu rituals. She clarified that while social media users claimed there must be involvement of love jihad in their marriage, it’s not true. Monalisa added that she respects all religions and considers them equal. She was quoted as saying:
"I got married according to Hindu rituals. It is not 'love jihad'. I respect all religions and consider every religion equal."
During the same conversation, Monalisa shared that her parents wanted to get her married to her aunt’s son. But she didn’t want to marry him as he was like a brother to her. The 'Maha Kumbh' Girl added that her boyfriend, Farman Khan, was reluctant to marry her, and it was she who convinced him for marriage.
"My parents wanted to get me married to my aunt’s son, and I did not want to marry him as he is like a brother to me."
Monalisa Bhosle hails from Indore, Madhya Pradesh and Farman is a native of Uttar Pradesh. The duo first connected on Facebook around six months ago. Soon, they became friends, and eventually, the close friendship blossomed into love. The couple tied the knot on March 11, 2026, at the Arumanoor Sri Nainaar Deva Temple in Kerala.
Several political figures, including V Sivankutty, M V Govindan, and A A Rahim, attended the couple's wedding ceremony in Kerala. Speaking to the media, Monalisa shared that she is happy to marry the love of her life, and they chose Kerala as their wedding location because both of them like it. She also opened up about their love story. She mentioned that their relationship is six months old, but it feels like sixty years. She added that her husband, Farman, is also an actor just like her. She was quoted as saying:
"Ours is a six-month love story, but it feels like sixty years. I am also an actor."
Monalisa became an overnight sensation when videos of her selling garlands and bangles during the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj went viral on social media. Her dusky tone and amber eyes caught widespread attention. Soon, she started getting film offers, and one of them was from Sanoj Mishra. She made her debut with the upcoming film, The Diary of Manipur, directed by Sanoj. Currently, Monalisa is in Kerala and shooting for the Malayalam film Nagamma, directed by P Binu Varghese.
