Since the past few days, the singer has been hogging the limelight for opening up about her relationship with her daughter, Lourdes Leon. Recently, she revealed that they once had a strained relationship; however, it is improving now after they worked on a project together.
Recently, Madonna sat down for an interview, during which she opened up about her relationship with her eldest daughter, Lourdes. She stated that after working on the upcoming album, they tried to understand each other and healed their strained relationship. It is worth noting that the album is set to release in early July 2026. Talking about the same, Madonna was quoted as saying:
"The song I wrote with my daughter, Lola. She approached me about writing a song together as a way to heal our relationship. It was a really important moment, and it solidified the idea that now is the time to make this record."
Further, in the interview, Madonna also revealed that her upcoming album is inspired by family trauma. For the unversed, Madonna and her eldest daughter collaborated on to co-write the song, Good for the Soul for the album, Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II. The singer explained that during the preparation of the album, she was going through a lot in her personal life, which has been reflected in the song as well. In her words:
"I had a lot of stuff going on in my life personally. My brother was very, very, very ill, and my stepmother, with whom I’d had a very traumatic relationship throughout my entire childhood, had just died. It’s hard for me to write a song about nothing. I have to tell a story. So I wrote about a lot of family trauma, and then we started making dance music."
Madonna and her eldest daughter’s strained relationship have often hogged the limelight. Time and again, Lourdes has revealed that the pop icon is very controlling and has not given her any freedom. In a 2021 interview, Lourdes opened up about Madonna’s career and stated that she is not as hardworking as her mother. Lourdes said:
"My mom is such a control freak, and she has controlled me my whole life. I needed to be completely independent from her as soon as I graduated high school. We don’t get any handouts in my family. Obviously, I grew up with extreme privilege. There’s no denying that. She’s probably the hardest worker I’ve ever seen. I didn’t inherit that, unfortunately. I inherited her control issues, but not her work ethic."
Madonna is one of the most influential icons of recent times. Born in 1958, she dreamed of becoming a performer at a young age and over the years, proved her capabilities by giving some hit songs.
