Former wardrobe assistant Asha Daniels filed a lawsuit in September 2023 against Lizzo's touring company, Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc., alleging sexual harassment, racial harassment, disability discrimination, and a hostile work environment during The Special Tour in Europe. Lizzo was dismissed as an individual defendant in December 2024 after the court ruled her companies were the employer.

On September 1, 2026, federal Judge Fernando L. Aenlle-Rocha dismissed all remaining claims, ruling Daniels failed to prove gender hostility or racial slurs, giving Lizzo's company a victory. Amid the new update, Lizzo’s personal life has grabbed a lot of attention. For the unversed, she has been in a relationship with Myke Wright.

Lizzo and Myke Wright’s relationship began as a long friendship. The two first met in 2016 while co-hosting MTV's music series Wonderland, where Lizzo handled music, and Myke handled comedy. They stayed friends for years after the show ended, with Lizzo later revealing there was early sexual tension but she was not in the right headspace for dating. She described that period on The Howard Stern Show in 2022 as her feeling unlovable phase.

The duo’s dynamic shifted in 2021. After reconnecting, they began dating quietly that year and were spotted together in Malibu and at restaurants in Beverly Hills, with reports in March 2021 of them kissing. Lizzo kept the identity private until April 2022 when she confirmed on Andy Cohen's SiriusXM show that she was officially in a relationship, noting her boyfriend had supported her Saturday Night Live performance.

The couple went public in June 2022 when they walked the red carpet together for Lizzo's Prime Video series Lizzo's Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, which also marked their Instagram official moment. Since then, they have been seen at major events including the 2023 Met Gala, the pre-Grammy Gala in February 2023, and Vanity Fair's Oscars after-party in March 2024 and again in March 2025.

In May 2025, Lizzo called their story a friends-to-lovers trope on Jake Shane's Therapuss podcast, saying he was one of the few guy friends in the industry she could truly trust.

Lawsuit against Lizzo’s touring company has been dismissed

As mentioned, the 2023 lawsuit against Lizzo's touring company, Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc., was dismissed on September 1, 2026. Federal Judge Aenlle-Rocha stated in the order that the plaintiff had failed to point to any behavior showing a general hostility toward women at work or different treatment of men and women.

The judge added that even though the alleged actions were inappropriate and unprofessional, they fell under what the Supreme Court considers ordinary workplace issues not covered by Title VII. The court also rejected the racial bias allegations, including the claim that Daniels' supervisor Amanda Nomura had used racial slurs. The judge noted there was no evidence that Nomura had ever used such language toward any Black individual.

Lizzo's attorney Melissa Y. Glass of Singer Weinstein, Wolf & Jonelis LLP described the ruling as a complete win for Lizzo, her touring company and the other defendants, calling Daniels' suit baseless. She noted that the claims against Lizzo personally had already been dismissed in December 2024 and said they were looking at ways to protect their clients' rights.

Lizzo addressed the court’s latest verdict in an Instagram Reel, saying that she was relieved that the case against her and Big Grrrl Touring had been won, and that all claims by a wardrobe assistant who worked less than three weeks, including one about a broken acrylic nail, had been thrown out. The 38-year-old singer said it was shocking to be sued by someone who admitted she had never met her, and that she had prayed for the truth to prevail.

Daniels' lawyer Ron Zambrano said they were disappointed, arguing the court weighed evidence that should have gone to a jury and viewed a sexually charged environment too narrowly rather than cumulatively, and disagreed that an ankle injury did not qualify as a disability under the ADA.
