At a recent podcast, Kristin Cabot faced the camera and spoke about the kiss cam scandal, sharing her first reaction after being caught with Andy Byron.
The controversial Coldplay Kiss Cam scandal turned the lives of Astronomer CEO, Andy Byron and the company’s HR representative, Kristin Cabot, forever. Both Andy and Kristin faced a lot of backlash as people called them out for cheating on their respective partners. For months, the scandal led the headlines, and both Andy and Kristin chose not to react in the same way.
In her first on-camera interview on The Oprah Podcast, Kristin discussed the Coldplay scandal, which turned her world upside down. She dropped many truth bombs in the interview and also highlighted that she and her husband, Andrew Cabot, were already contemplating divorce at the time.
When Oprah asked Kristin about her first thought after being caught on camera with Andy, she stated it as a ‘total horror’. In her words:
“That was a moment of total horror. It is the best way I can really describe it. My immediate thought was oh my God, my husband is in the building. He was there with someone else, and I knew that and that was great. But he and I were in the midst of our separation, incredibly, amicable. He is an incredible man and the last thing I wanted to do was embarrass him. And that was my first thought when I saw myself in that moment.”
In her podcast with Oprah, Kristin also recollected that her husband, Andrew, attended the same concert. It was from her daughter that Kristin got to know that her husband, Andrew, was also attending the Coldplay concert with someone else. When she learned about her husband’s presence at the concert, she thought, "Will it get weird if Andrew sees her with Andy?"
She further revealed that her husband, Andrew, knew how closely she and Andy worked in the organisation, and he was also aware that she often hung out with Andy. Speaking about her husband’s presence at the concert, Kristin shared:
“I was walking into the concert and my daughter messaged me and said, ‘Oh it’s so great that you and Andrew are both at Coldplay. So she let me know that my estranged husband was also at the concert. And in my mind I thought, well that’s — is this going to be weird if he sees me with Andy [Byron]? Like … if I run into him. But then I was like, I’m in Gillette Stadium, there’s 55,000 people here, I’m probably not going to run into him.”
In the podcast, Kristin dropped another truth bomb and stated that she and Andy had the first physical contact in the form of a kiss at the concert. She also stated that the two never had any sexual relationship and kissed for the first time at the concert. But when the scandal broke out, she was blamed and called names, and during the whole fiasco, Andy chose to remain silent. It was his ignorance towards her which made her cut all ties with him.
