The 26-year-old Pune-based businessman was killed by Chetan Chaudhary, the lover of his fiancée, Siya Goyal, ahead of their wedding. What was initially reported on June 18, 2026, as an accidental 400-foot fall from Lohagad Fort, was later exposed as a planned murder. Chetan Babulal Chaudhary, the man behind the premeditated murder of Ketan Agarwal, is a 22-year-old resident of Kondhwa, Pune, Maharashtra. He is reportedly Siya Goyal's long-term lover and is detained as a prime suspect in the case along with Siya. Although he admitted to committing the crime, the police are still investigating the case and looking for more solid evidence to prove his and his ladylove's crime. As for Chetan's background or profession, little is known, except that the investigators believe he met Siya through business circles and has been in regular contact ever since. Siya's family is reportedly involved in dry fruits business.
Ketan and his fianceé, Siya visited Lohagad Fort, which was 50 kilometers away from Pune, to celebrate her birthday. When they reached the top of the fort, Siya called her longtime lover, Chetan Babulal Chaudhary to help her kill Ketan. Chetan threw him down from the top, leading to his death on the spot. Now, in a recent interview with ANI, the deceased's father, Vishal Agarwal, revealed that before pushing Ketan off the fort, Chetan hit him with an object, probably to make him unconscious, or at least incapacitated enough not to be able to escape the push that was to follow.
Ketan Agarwal and his fiancée, Siya Goyal, were engaged in February 2026 and were scheduled to get married in a lavish ceremony in November 2026. However, Siya was entirely unwilling to go through with the marriage. It was an arranged marriage, and 20-year-old Siya was clearly unhappy with it, but pretended to be okay in front of others. Her heart belonged to someone else as she was in a relationship with Chetan Chaudhary. The duo's call records revealed that they had been in close contact for three years, logging over 2,000 calls in just the seven months leading up to the incident.
As for Siya and Chetan's motive behind killing Ketan, she claimed that she did so to save the honour of her family. Siya was scared to tell her family about her boyfriend, reportedly because his profession or financial status did not meet her family's standards, and she feared they would not support their relationship. When interrogated by the police about why she did not elope with Chetan Chaudhary, she stated that she refused to call off the engagement or run away because she believed doing so would bring social disrespect and dishonour to her family. Hence, they chose to get rid of Ketan without facing family backlash.
An investigator, in a statement to the Indian Express, revealed that on the day of the incident, before Siya and Ketan climbed the fort, Chetan had already reached the premises and followed them. Well, officers found Chetan following Siya and Ketan's vehicle, wearing a hoodie, which seemed odd given the hot weather. It probed them to investigate him and find that he kept his phone at home and carried a staff member's phone to avoid being tracked. Then, they found his chats with Sia, which confirmed their plan to murder Ketan.
