In a fresh turn of developments, Chetan's classmate, Ritesh Hange has been named as one of the prime accused in the murder of Ketan Agarwal and has been arrested. Ritesh has been identified as Chetan's friend, and the cops have stated that he knew about the planned murder of Ketan.
According to social media reports, Ritesh Hange is a 22-year-old boy who hails from Maharashtra's Beed district. He has been working in Pune's Balewadi area and knew Chetan since their school or college days. Both were friends and also former classmates.
Reports indicate that Chetan and Ritesh have been in contact with one another since the last week of May 2026. A lot of communication was exchanged between Ritesh and Chetan. Cops are investigating whether it was related to Ketan's murder.
Ritesh's alleged connection to the case emerged during the police investigation into Chaudhary's case. Investigators have examined the information related to Chaudhary's mobile, which helped them track Ritesh. Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill shared:
"During the investigation, it came to light that Ritesh was involved in the planning of Ketan Agarwal's murder. He was aware of the earlier plan of Goyal and Chaudhary to injure Ketan by breaking his hands and legs and subsequently eliminate him. After allegedly executing the murder at Lohagad fort on June 18, Chetan contacted Ritesh and informed him about it."
Ritesh Hange's alleged involvement in the murder came to light after a forensic analysis of his phone, which was recovered. Ritesh was produced before the Vadgaon Maval Sessions Court, and he remained in police custody until September 12, 2026.
The cops have claimed that group chats found on Ritesh's phone showed details about how Ketan was pushed from the Lohagad Fort and how the evidence related to the crime could have been completely destroyed. Hange is being questioned right now. The cops also alleged that Chaudhary and Goyal had plans to eliminate Agarwal as he was creating a major obstacle in Chetan's relationship.
Police have charged Ritesh with criminal conspiracy, and he is seen as the third prime co-accused in the entire case. Police had mentioned that Chetan and Siya had asked Ritesh to accompany them to the Lohagad fort for a walk. However, Ritesh reportedly did not reach the spot from where Ketan was killed on June 18, 2026.
Chetan and Siya had spoken to Ritesh soon after Ketan died. Police are looking into what Ritesh knew about the full planning and the controversy. For those who do not know, Ketan Agarwal was a Pune-based businessman who lost his life after he fell into a gorge at the Lohagad Fort.
The death was first seen as an accident, and Siya Goyal alleged that Ketan slipped when they were taking pictures near the edge of the fort. The investigation changed completely after Ketan's sister questioned Siya about the incident and found many inconsistencies in her statement.
Ketan's family had then approached the cops, and a closer examination was done of the circumstances related to his demise. Siya and Chetan were then arrested on different charges of criminal conspiracy and also murder. According to an ANI report:
"Pune Rural Police have arrested Ritesh Hange in connection with the Ketan Agarwal death case, a senior police official said. Police said Hange is a friend of Chetan Chowdhury and has been charged with allegedly being involved in a conspiracy to commit the crime. He was produced before the Vadgaon Maval Court, which remanded him to police custody till September 12."
