Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively's long-standing legal battle has grabbed all the attention. Now, Blake's alleged texts revealed that she was seemingly aware of Justin's questions to her trainer.
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's long legal battle has been keeping the entire industry on its toes. For the unversed, Blake and Justin were featured in the movie It Ends With Us, which was based on Colleen Hoover's novel. Justin had dual roles in the movie as a director and an actor. However, while the movie was highly anticipated, what came afterwards was unexpected.
Which began as creative differences between Blake and Justin, turned into a legal battle that's still ongoing, and also involved Taylor Swift and Blake's husband, Ryan Reynolds. Amid this, Us Weekly obtained alleged texts from Blake, which were submitted as evidence. In the texts, Blake mentioned that Justin asked her trainer about her weight without her permission. As per a report by Us Weekly, they had their hands on the alleged texts that Blake Lively dropped to a third party. The messages that dated back to April 2023 have been put as evidence in the legal battle of the actress against Justin Baldoni in support of his alleged sexual harassment of the actress while filming It Ends With Us.
As per the texts, Blake thanked the receiver of the message for a comment, and added that her trainer was called by the director/co-star of her movie, as he wanted to know how much she weighed, being worried about lifting her during a sex scene. She wrote in the text that the director was worried about his back problems and bone density and wanted to ensure that he would be able to lift her. Her alleged message reads:
"Thank you so much for the sweet message. That photo was from a year ago. Wish it’s what I looked like. I actually had my director/costar call my trainer today to ask what I’ll weigh in two weeks when we shoot. Because he’s worried about his back and bone density and wants to be sure he’s ok to lift me up for our sex scenes. I’ve committed to only eating bagels from now on also. He’s an actual donkey. I’m ranting about strangers."
In her lawsuit, Blake Lively allegedly said that on the set, Baldoni routinely dragged her and in several ways criticised her body and weight. She claimed that she was humiliated by Justin calling her trainer without her knowledge and asking about her weight, implying that he wanted her to lose weight within two weeks, when she had only given birth to her fourth child, four months before she began shooting for the film. Baldoni told Blake that it was about his back issues, and he was concerned about picking her up, while there was no such scene.
While Blake Lively's lawyers revealed that Baldoni's questions to the actress's trainer were uncomfortable and inappropriate, the actor's lawyers counterclaimed, stating that it was not meant to demean the actress as a woman, but rather to help the actor anticipate his own physical obligations in connection with a scripted lift scene. Talking about Blake Lively's trainer, Don Saladio, he previously revealed that he felt uncomfortable with Baldoni calling him and asking about Lively's weight. He said:
"I have never experienced someone reaching out to me about a client’s weight. I felt that Mr. Baldoni’s explanation for his question was dishonest, given that, based on my understanding of Mr. Baldoni’s workout regimen, he would easily be able to perform a lift in a range that would include Ms. Lively. I refused to answer [Baldoni’s] question about [Lively’s] weight and told [Lively] about [Baldoni’s] inappropriate question. [Lively] seemed embarrassed and hurt that [Baldoni] had asked about her weight without her permission."
