Police said York had walked into an operation set up by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force and was stopped by officers as he approached the area. He was then detained by East Palestine police.
The mobile home park itself said it was caught up in the situation unintentionally. In a post on its Facebook page, it stated that its addresses were not part of the sting and that officers happened to intercept York there. The park also said the news of an arrest in their quiet neighborhood was as surprising to them as to others. York was detained with the cellphone allegedly used to arrange the meeting. Court documents noted that the phone was used to set up the act, which led to the charge of possessing criminal tools.
The NFL said it was aware of the matter and that it would be examined under its personal conduct policy, according to a statement from league communications representative Brian McCarthy. The policy covers all league personnel, so York could face league action. On the other hand, the 49ers said that since the legal matter had been resolved, they would not be commenting further.
