The box office success of Devara and Peddi raised Janhvi’s market appeal, making her one of the most bankable actresses. After Peddi’s release, many criticised the film for over-sexualisation of Janhvi’s character. Throughout the film, Janhvi was objectified multiple times. In opening scene, she was seen alongside Ram Charan, who makes a comment about her appearance. Further in the film, Ram Charan’s character tries to forcefully kiss Janhvi while makers justify the scene as his love language.
The film garnered huge backlash for over-sexualising Janhvi and making her look like a mere object to ogle. Many users took to social media and called out the makers and commented, “After watching Peddi, you can't help but feel pity for Janhvi Kapoor. Sridevi would have never allowed her to act in such B-grade films in the South."
