Pavel Durov, who is often referred to as Russian Elon Musk is the founder of the messaging app Telegram. The billionaire businessman is one of the richest man in Dubai with a whopping net worth of USD 12.1 billion. Born on October 10, 1984, Durov hails from Beningard, Soviet Union and holds both French and Emirati citizenship.
Durov comes from a family, who boasts rich academic and military history. He studied English and translation at the Petersburg State University between 2002 and 2006. It was during his time at the university when Pavel found his love for technology. His father Valery Durov is a Doctor of Philological Sciences and the author of academic papers. His mother, Albina Durov, who has Ukrainian roots, taught at Saint Petersburg State University.
Pavel also has a brother named Nikolai Durov, who is an elite mathematician and programmer. Talking about Pavel’s marital status, the billionaire entrepreneur is not married as he ‘prefers to live alone’. As per Forbes, Pavel has six children, whom he shares with his ex-girlfriends.
Do you know Pavel Durov has over 100 biological children? Yes, you read that right. Even if Pavel is not married, the CEO has over 100 children of his own. In 2024, he revealed fathering more than 100 children via sperm donation. In a post shared on Telegram, Pavel revealed:
“I was just told that I have over 100 biological kids. How is this possible for a guy who has never been married and prefers to live alone? Fifteen years ago, a friend of mine approached me with a weird request. He said that he and his wife couldn’t have kids due to a fertility issue and asked me to donate sperm at a clinic for them to have a baby.”
Going further in the post, Pavel revealed how his sperm donation helped over 100 couples in 12 countries to become parents. Elaborating on the same, he penned:
“I laughed my ass off before realizing he was dead serious. The boss of the clinic told me that “high quality donor material” was in short supply and that it was my civic duty to donate more sperm to anonymously help more couples. Moreover, many years after I stopped being a donor, at least one IVF clinic still has my frozen sperm available for anonymous use by families who want to have kids.”
In the same post, Pavel Durov also stated that he plans to open-source his DNA so that his biological children can find each other. Not just this, the businessman recently revealed that his wealth will be equally divided between all his children, irrespective of how they were conceived. It was in 2025 when Pavel shared that he had written his will, and his children won't receive anything or have access to his wealth until a period of thirty years, which will end in 2055.
