Hoda Kotb Opens Up About Savannah Guthrie's Return To 'Today' Show Amid Mother, Nancy's Kidnapping

Recently, Hoda Kotb opened up about Savannah Guthrie's return to the 'Today' show, amid her mother, Nancy's kidnapping.

It's been more than 2 months since Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy was kidnapped from her house on February 1, 2026. Since then, multiple clues have been discovered by the police; however, she hasn't returned. Recently, a FBI agent also analysed the situation and stated that Nancy might be dead. Amid that, the attention is now on Savannah, who has officially returned to the TODAY show. Well, now her co-host, Hoda Kotb has come forward and opened up about the same.

Hoda Kotb feels privileged to sit beside Savannah Guthrie

Recently, Hoda Kotb had a conversation with People, during which she opened up about her reunion with Savannah Guthrie. For those unaware, in the past few months, Savannah Guthrie has been busy finding information about her mother. On the other hand, Hoda Kotb had left TODAY in 2025; however she returned to fill in the position of Craig Melvin.

During the same conversation, Hoda Kotb opened up about her reunion with Savannah Guthrie amid the tough times. Hoda described Savannah as a symbol of ‘strength’ and explained that she feels good and privileged to sit beside Savannah Guthrie. Hoda Kotb was quoted as saying:

"It's been fun holding her hand. I mean, that's been my favorite part. Just sitting next to her. That's it. It's been really beautiful and I feel privileged to be able to sit there for a little while. I feel like I get to be in the seat to watch what strength looks like. There's nobody like her."

Hoda Kotb took Savannah Guthrie’s first interview amid Nancy’s missing case

For those who do not know, a few weeks ago, Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb sat down for a candid conversation, which was the former’s first interview after her mother, Nancy went missing. During the interview, when Hoda Kotb asked Savannah about her mother, she was quoted as saying:

"To think that I brought this to her bedside, that it's because of me? Can I just say, I'm so sorry, Mommy. I'm sorry to my sister and my brother and my kids and my nephew and Tommy, my brother-in-law. I'm just so sorry. I'm so sorry. If it is me, I'm so sorry."

A FBI agent analysed that Nancy might be dead

On April 13, 2026, a former FBI agent named Jennifer Coffindaffer took to her X (formerly Twitter) handle to share her analysis in the missing case of Nancy Guthrie. She penned a long note, in which she revealed that it was believed that Nancy was kidnapped for ransom; however, she now thinks that Nancy might have died. Her note can be read as:

"Nancy Guthrie. LE said they know the motive for the abduction of Nancy and they have known it from the beginning. Abduction 2/1. Ransom note to local media 2/2. Ransom note to TMZ 2/3. Kidnapping for Ransom. Nancy sadly died. The kidnappers didn't care and tortured the family with 2 notes knowing the FBI would not recommend paying a ransom without proof of life. Like most cases, this one is simple, but everyone wants to make it complex. Occam's Razer. Even the Guthrie family knows."
